My 6 year old daughter was exposed to chickenpox. A couple of days ago she started getting all the early symptoms,(runny rose, fever) I was waiting for the spots to appear and when I went into her room lastnight it seemed like they were going to start coming out. She had all these patches of red on her whole body (looked like blotches) Thing is this morning when she woke up they were all gone! No blotches, no raised areas at all. My question is when do the spots start to come out? Are blotches a sign of chickenpox? I looked all over the internet and alls they said was raised pimple like spots and she had blotches. I know it was chickenpox she was exposed to-what is going on! HELP

Hello, Did you check for little red spots on her tummy? My mom used to say that the chicken pox start on the stomach, due to the warmth. I remember when I had mine...Sure enough they started out on my stomach, but they didn't start off raised. They started off as little red spots.

Try looking behind her ears l believe they start there but l think theres an incubation time too so it might be too early to tell yet try doing a search good luck

The incubation period is 1-3 weeks. If after 3 weeks of being exposed you dont break out with the spots then you are probably safe. This is what my son's pediatrician told me. A couple kids in his class came down with it recently and I was keeping my eyes out for it. He's had the vaccine but they say it's only about 80% effective. We waited out the 3 weeks and everything turned out ok though.(was a brief scare though with fever just like in your case) Unsure about the blotchy thing though. Mine started on my stomache when I was a child too, just little red dots. Hope everything turns out ok. Take care,

I am not 100% sure but I think there is still time to get her in to the doc for a chickenpox vaccine if she hasn't had one yet. They came out with that vaccine not long after my kids had the chickenpox. You didn't state how long ago she was exposed to them but if she is still in the incubation period she may be just starting to get them and they will pop out. I am not sure where my son's started but I remember picking him up from school and seeing a spot on his forehead and looking closer when we got home and found a few more and instinctivly knew it was chickenpox.
