I have been taking birth control pills for 6 years. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen for the first five and then changed to Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. Does anyone know if it is harder to get yours cycles back regular after getting of the pill if you have been taking them for so long versus someone who has only been on them 1-2 years?

I thought that while on BC (Ortho Tri Cyclen) you still had your period regularly and when going off BC it comes around the same time it would if you wouldnt have never taking birth control at all. Sorry if its confusing but thats just what i thought. :bouncing:

You still do have your periods regularly but I have read in several places that due to your hormones being messed up from getting off the pill that sometimes it may take a month or two before your next period. It is like you skip one or two but your not pregnant. I don't know for sure though I was just wanting to get some input. Thanks for your reply.

After going off of the pill, yes, it's true that for some it can take some time to get your hormones balanced and in a cyclical nature again. I went off 2 months ago and had a period just as I would have had if I were still on the pill just last month. As a matter of fact, it was quite a bit heavier.

Thanks latte163... That makes me feel alot better about it. I was just worried that they would not continue as usual and my hormones would be unbalanced for awhile.
