Just wondering how many of you have had a child immunized as a baby and have had them come down with chicken pox?
My daughter, age 8 1/2 just came down with a mild case and was immunized at about 1 year old. I have heard this is not uncommon! What's the deal?????

My son is only 2 but I do remember when he got his they did say a mild case might occur. At least it's just a mild case. I had a bad case at age 13-ARGH!

My daughter is 22 months old. She had the varicella zoster vaccine at approx 18 mo. As of Thursday, she has chicken pox.
As the doctor told me, the point of the vaccine is not to prevent the chicken pox, it is to assure that any case they may get will be mild. Nice way to mislead parents, eh?
I have a 5 month old baby, too, and I am very worried that he will get them. On the plus side, Arica, my DD, only has about 20-25 lesions, so it isnt that bad of a case, just really bad timing (my brother's wedding is next saturday, my son has an appt with his ortho specialist on wednesday).

Just be glad your daughter is getting them now. Like the previous poster said, it doesnt necessarily prevent the chicken pox, esp once they reach a certain age.
I had them when i was 16, a real bad case, I wish I had them when I was that young!
