I'm due to start taking microgynon (the pill) but my doctor said i have to wait till the 1st day of my next period (which is over a month away!) but i heard that you can take it at any time in the month but you have to wait 7 days until you can have unprotected sex, can anyone give me any advice please?x please please help im so stuck!it says on the leaflet that the nurse gave me that i can take it at any time and have 2wait 7days but im really not sure :confused:

Are you on your period now? If so, you could start this sunday. If you're not, you can start anytime you like, it's true, but you run a higher risk of breakthrough bleeding and spotting.
If you decide to go ahead and start, you must correctly take seven pills in a row before you are protected.

I don't see where it would hurt to start this Sunday. That's how I did mine (the Sunday after my period started) and it worked out fine.

ok so if i take it this sunday,(this means i wont b on my period tho) i will b ok?or shall i take it when im still on?i shud finish my period on friday

You should be fine. With the Sunday start, you're supposed to take them on the Sunday after your period starts, even if you're still bleeding. But, in your case, you shouldn't be.

You'll be fine starting this Sunday. Use back-up for seven days, and then you'll be fully protected. :)

If you started last saturday, you should have taken it last sunday. (the next day) Don't start until your next period. You're gonna mess up the cycle and your pills if you start the wrong time.

She'll be fine starting this Sunday. She might possibly have some breakthrough bleeding at the end of the pack, but she could have that starting any time. She won't mess up her pills, or her cycle, and after taking seven pills, she'll be fully protected. :)
