My 4 year old has been having bad constipation and not eating much at all. The last two days when he does poop, it has been a funny color, like gray. Does anyone know why this would be? I'm scared and need help fast. Thanks!

It concerns me to hear anyone say they see gray bowels.
Why? The livers job includes dumping yellow bellirubin (sp?) into the bowels. If the liver isn't doing its job properly, stools turn gray!
A quick question, does your 4 yo look yellow or tan? What color are the whites of his eyes?
Please call your GP and get him checked as soon as you can.

Thanks for your help. I will get him to a doctor.
His color is good and the whites of his eyes are SO white!

Purple grape juice turns to a weird color and is he drinking any blue colored drinks? Also Milk will give a white chalky stool to some people-at a year and a a third the doc told me to switch to cows milk for my kid and the entire week it was constipation and then massive amounts of the chalky white-sorry to be so blunt. I took her off of it needless to say and back to the similac.
I thought yellow was the color when there is too much dumping into stomach intestine pancreas related.

Well, he hates milk and will never drink it and about a week ago that's all he would drink! Most of the time before it was juice. He drank tons of milk then yesterday got sick and threw it up. Well, I dont think he can handle milk and now he is back on juice. That's when the constipation thing came into play, when he started drinking all that milk. Does anyone think the milk could have caused the strange color?
Thanks to everyone for the help.

Well, I'm happy to say that after that overload on milk his bowels are back to a normal brown color! He is just one that can't take in alot of milk, it makes him sick.
Thanks to you that helped me through this, bless you!

My boys and me can't tolerate milk either. Doesn't turn our bowels odd colors but causes other issues.
Glad he is better.
