Sponsor mlgable 07-01-2003, 10:15 PM Are you breast feeding your baby? Many babies who are breastfed resist the bottle. If that is the case hopefully someone with experience in this can help you. moon11 07-01-2003, 10:28 PM Yes,I am breastfeeding. Now I want to change to fomula. jboon 07-01-2003, 10:36 PM I tried switching my daughter to a bottle when she was four months old, after only being breast fed. It was not an easy task and she was not a very willing participant. It took someone else giving her the bottle, and even then, she didn't eat until around 5:00 p.m. that day. The pediatrician told me that when she got hungry enough, she'd eat--and he was right. But, I had to totally stop nursing her as of that day. She was my first child. When my son was born, I made sure that he got one bottle of formula every day, beginning the first night in the hospital. It did make life simpler, I remember, because I tried to time the bottle feeding for when we were "out and about," doing things. Good luck. camden 07-03-2003, 02:36 PM He may not like the nipples. I never breastfed but my son was perfectly fine with the nipples I bought for him. My daughter on the other hand did not like the same kind so I bought her a different kind which she seemed to like just fine. christie s 07-03-2003, 04:32 PM What type of nipples are you using? The playtex kind is what I used when switching from breast to bottle. My daughter absolutely refused the other kinds of nipples. Experiment with the different types of nipples, there are several kinds out there. You may even try putting it in a sippy cup. Good luck to you. kymomlee 07-08-2003, 01:26 PM I have been breastfeeding and had to go back to work, my little guy hated the nipples we had, I finally found some that have little bumps on them to simulate the breast and they are the only nipples he will take. I think they are parent's choice brand yoga1st 07-09-2003, 11:59 PM does your baby take a binky? if so try and use the same type of nipple, if that doesn't work you will have to trial and error it buy a few different types and see what works and also like someone else mentions maybe going strait to a tippy cup my 9 mth refuses any synthetic nipple~ he won't even use a binky,~~ |
