My girlfriend started hers last Wednesday even though she was supposed to have hers this week. She is on Birth Control but started it a week late and than went away for a weekend (2 weeks ago)and forgot it so she really screwed it up this month which is very unlike her. Well, her period ended Yesterday (Tuesday) and low and behold started up again today which was the day that she was supposed to start it in the first place.
Is this basically a direct result of screwing up her birth control? Is it common or should she see a doctor to be safe? Thanks for your help in advance?

Most likely it's because she messed up her birth control. To avoid pregnancy you should use back up until she's taken seven pills correctly in a row. She may continue spotting throughout the next pack of pills because of being a week late starting the last pack and then missing pills of it later on.

Thanks, I figured it was due to her screwing up her pill pack up. She didn't seemed too concerned when I talked to her about it but I figured I'd ask here anyways.
And we most certainly will use back up for a while.
Usually she takes them religiously but this month shes all over the place, not sure why.
Thanks for your help.

Yeah, whn i started on the pill my doctor warned me about break-through bleeding that it is normal and will happen if you mess up your pills. They'll only last for about a day.
