I have a 5 yr. old son and for about the past 2 months about once or twice a week his stools are green. He goes once a day and they are formed just green?!I have done research on the internet and it says it can be the food they eat but twice a week??

That happened to my daughter also and it worried me alot. I finally figured it out....it happens when she eats Fruity Pebbles cereal. It most likely will be a food he is eating.

As long as his stools are formed normally I wouldn't worry. Anything will turn poop greenish: leafy vegetables, kool-aid, popsicles, playdough...
Poop will also be green after not eating for a few days because the byle (sp?) is higher in concentration (byle is green).
If he doesn't have diarrea, stomach cramps or anything else besides the green, I would think nothing is wrong.

Thank you both for replying. It has had me quite worried. It is formed, and he does not complain so im going to try to monitor what he eats more closely and see if I can figure out the exact cause!

My son went through that about 12 years ago, and believe me, it was really perplexing! But, I figured it out. It was like your earlier poster-it only happened when he ate Boo Berry cereal. It obviously has something to do with a purple/blue food coloring that is also in the Fruity Pebbles ;)
