I just found out that my son is constipated. He goes poop on a regular basis, but we seen an urologist because he has been having wetting accidents all the suddon.(could also be from diabetes). Anyways his KUB showed that he still has stool in his colon and the is pressing on the bladder. So starting tomorrow we are the start a high-fiber diet and get him cleaned out. This was a total shocker when she told me this because we thought the frequent urination and accidents was from possible diabetes. My appoinment was originally for the hole in the end of his penis being to small
I am just really confused now

How old is your son?
A full bowel will press against the baldder and cause frequent pee accidents.
Does he also have soiling accidents?
I do hope the high fiber diet will do the trick!
How will you do the clean-out?
Look on the internet under soiling, chronic constipation and encopresis. You will find lots and lots of info that you might find usefull!

My son is 6 years old. We will start the cleaning out process tonight. We are to give him a dose of scenocot and then start daily doses of benefiber. Then every friday evening give him a dose of milk of mag. We doesn't have any soiling accidents and the peeing accidents are when he seems to be having problems with his blood suger. Thanks for all the info.

The senna will do the trick. It is a rather strong stimulant.
The MOM will make his poop mushy so it will be easier to come out.
If he is not soiling you are lucky and you caught it on time!
Good luck.

Did the senna not produce any poop? One tablet might not be enough, but two tablets should have given him a pretty good BM!
It takes a while for the body to get used to the fiber, especially after constipation. It also takes a while before you know what the right dosage is. I would not stop using fiber, I would maybe skip the MOM instead (how much MOM do you have to give him? If it is more than 5cc it will most likely give him diarrea)
Diarrea after a big bout of constipatian is not necessarely a bad thing. If his bowels have been full, it would be good to empty them fairly quickly before a more difficult to move impaction gets stuck.
With the extra fiber, or with MOM (or lactulose or Miralax) you want to end up with a good size mushy poop (sorry for the poop talk) everyday (or more than once a day).
Oh, and if you do a change of diet at the same time, make sure he doesn't get an "overdose" of fiber, because that will cause diarrea too.
Good lcuk,

he only gets the mom on fridays to kind of empty him out from the past week. as far as the fiber intake we havn't really change his diet to speak of, just the benefiber stuff every evening with dinner. I also think he may have a touch of the flu too. I guess just wait and see

That must be quite a large dose of MOM if you use it as a clean-out!
With my daughter the MOM would work just fine for the first few weeks, then it would start giving her stomach pain and gas, then it simply would completely stop working. Same with the lactulose. Only the Miralax seems to keep working, even though we had to up her dose after 3 months, because she became impacted anyways... Right now we only work with Miralax and sometimes enemas...
Yes, flu won't help!
