Ok i dont know what is going on and i have never seen this symptom on here but last night and today, both my ankles, feet, and calfs have started to swell big time to where i couldnt even walk. I thought it had to do smeting with my ed. I binged this morning because i was worried it had something to do w/ not eating enough days before, but then at work it got so bad i had to go home. I went to the doctor and he is going to have blood test done. has this even happend to anyone??? any input would be great because i am worried and stressed!

Ah yeah. That is definitely from the ED. It's called edema.. in other words, swelling. It can happen as a result of anorexia or bulemia.. your body will begin to retain more water, which causes the extremeties to swell. It is something they check for in ED evaluations and your doctor might recognize it.. but he also may not if he's not familiar with EDs.

Oh wow i had no idea. I dont think he suspected an ED because he didnt ask anything about my eating. This is definetly a wake up call, thank you so much for ur response. Do u have any other info on this?

I don't know too much more about it. But you could search on the net and probably get more info. It is a typical symptom of anorexia that is usually listed on most sites.

i get it mostly on my hands (the swelling) & face (although due to induced vomitiing) i'd get it more often when my eating patterns were bulimic as opposed to anorexic/highly restrictive

really? interesting, i dont vomit too often... like barely ever. I just never knew of this side effect and it really scared me. I am getting blood test tommorrow to see if they can see anything from that whats wrong with me. Im nervous! Thanks for ur replies!!
