Hi,
I'm 29 and although I do look about 5 years younger, I can tell that my face is starting to sag just a little. You know what I mean, like if I would press my face back a little, I can see a younger look. As the years go on, i know this is going to bother me ALOT and I want to keep my youthful look without spending trillions of dollars. What do you think? Any suggestions? :( I've been thinking about aging quite frequently especially since my 30th birthday is in 7 months. I exercise, eat a healthy diet, and use good creams. Thanks, I think i'm having an aging crisis, or should I say, an "aging issue!" I'm serious, it has been consuming my thoughts a lot lately.

If you're thinking about a cheap face lift I would say, "NO WAY!" Take a look at a lot of celebrities who have the money to spend on getting one and to me it does not look good. The pictures that they have of them in magazines are touched up with computer tricks that take away flaws. I personally can tell when most people have had one it just doesn't look right, sorry. No matter what, we all are still aging and we might as well just enter it gracefully and be thankful we are still alive and most are healthy, because the aging process will always be there. Look at all the people who have lost a limb, are blind, have a terminal sickness, and so much more, and a little bit of aging wouldn't be so bad. The look of a few years of age really is so miniscual. For me it's all in the personality anyway. I know some people who seem a lot older than they are by the way that they act to others and how cheerful or 'down' they are. If I were you I wouldn't worry so much about a few fine lines because their going to show up no matter what for the most part, and there is not much we can do about it, thats just the way of life. I will be 27 years in a few weeks! Thats hard to believe. Oh well, can't stop time. I hope I helped you a little anyway.
P.S. These are just my personal views and I hope I did not upset anyone.
If I did I am truly sorry. :)

Since you already look younger than you are, stop worrying, genetics is in your favor. Please do not mess with your face or genetics will not follow along for many years to come. Interference may very well have the opposite effect than desired.

Remember, face lifts are fake looking and need to be done over and over rest of your life or suffer the consequences of tired, old looking, sagging face.

Mother nature knows what it is doing, you only need to look inside for the beautiful "you"! It is in there, trust me. Outside beauty is only skin deep, the real beauty is within.

And stay out of the sun!! or if it's unavoidable, always use a good sunscreen.
But, don't sunbathe (natural or booth).

Your obssession is normal for turning 30. Just care for your skin properly, eat well, drink plenty of water, take your vitamins...etc.

If you smoke...it will age you quicker. Stress can have an effect, but doesn't seem to be lasting once the stress is over.

I just turned 50....have always cared for my skin, don't smoke, do have stress -- self-inflicted tho -- don't suntan, eat well -- but do love to have chocolate, I don't exercise -- I know that will help, I don't look 50 -- but love being 50 (which is sooo totally weird to me).

You don't age as quickly as one would think. Just don't have surgery as your only alternative. The "new look" is very scary, stunned looking and so unnatural. It's actually freaky. Take a look at Pricilla Presley....totally monster looking! What's her next move to improvement. Her issues are purely psychological -- there will be no end. I can't wait till she looks like Michael Jackson!

Be well..and it's not so bad to look your age almost your age.

I've been using glycolic skin peels and lotions, as well as microdermabrasions. These procedures and lotions peel off the top layers of your skin, revealing the new skin underneath. They also stimulate new collagen growth. I'm 50 and having been using these products for years, as well as Copper Peptides from Skin Biology. I don't have a lot of sagging for my age and people say I look early 40's.

I cannot totally agree with some of the other posters here, in that plastic surgery is a total waste of money. It really depends on the doctor you use. Do a search on the internet for before and after pictures of face lifts done by different physicians. They don't all look scary and most doctors now use a very subtle technique so that the look is a lot more natural than in the past.

I think some of those movie stars are having too much done and that is why they look so phoney. I Had my eyes done, for only $3,000 (upper and lower bleph) and I really think it's turned back the clock for me several years. I've had undereye bags since I was child and my upper lids were hooded. My doctor used a very subtle approach and when I went back to work, no one even noticed! So, while I certainly don't think you need a face lift at your age, there is nothing wrong with keeping plastic surgery as an option in the future. Just make sure you do a lot of research on the doctors and talk to patients who have had procedures done and were happy with the results.

Hi greeneyes... How old were you when you had your eyes done?

I definitely agree that eye puffiness, fatty bags, hooded upper lids can make a 30 year old look 40! No amount of sleep or make-up can help that and surgery could be a good option.

Maybe laser treatments would be a good option for 30 year old skin -- I have seen it used on various programs to even the surface of the skin to make it smoother as well as increase the collagen to improve the tightness and elasticity.

I agree that indepth research is a must!

I had my eyes done, i believe about 3 years ago, so I was 47. I didn't even have a crease on the upper lid and now I have one! Like I said, the doctor I used never does too much and it was so subtle, no one even noticed I had anything done. Of course, I told a few people at work and the ones I told could see a difference. It completely got rid of my lower bags too! One time, during allergy season, by eyes were so puffy, they looked like slits!

Now, they look great, and I hardly ever have that morning puffiness I used to have, unless I'm all all night drinking or something!

Yes, there are times when it is medically necessary to have eyelid lifts. Eyelids can droop over so bad it will interfer with vision. This is quite different from having lifts due to vanity and having to repeat them over and over again in order to look half decent in older age. Sagging lifts look worse than a naturally aging face as a rule.

I wouldn't advise surgery; however, you might check out Nicholas Perricone, a big-time Hollywood dermatologist. He's written books about looking younger that have a whole-body, healthful approach. He also sells $$$ supplements & creams that are still cheaper than surgery. But it's worth your while to read the books - they'll open your eyes.

There are affordable microdermabrasion products on the market that you can use at home. There's a post on them here.

In the meantime, I can give you a little tried and true advice. I'm 45 and look about 30. Staying out of the sun when I was young was probably the biggest factor. Also, I've never been much of a drinker (weekends in college, out w/pals on a Friday night, etc.) and never smoked - anything. I drink a lot of water. There are a lot of things that I do WRONG but I've managed to do those 4 right. Also Scandinavian heritage - but that was just pure luck.

If you're 29 and look 25 you probably "shouldn't" be worrying but people do anyway.

what is the supplement? It sounds like it is worth a try

I think she said the supplement was Via Viente. Perricone's products are expensive, but you can buy cheaper products that have similar effects. Vitamin C is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It's good for easing arthritis, producing collagen, AND boosting your immune system. I got some at a health food store called "ascorbyl palmitate" - or Vitamin C Ester. This is different from regular ol' vitamin C (ascorbic acid). The Ester stuff is MUCH better, as Dr. Perricone will tell you. It's a good product to start with.

There are also lots of foods that are "inflammatory" - Perricone discusses them; so do a lot of other diet books. These foods will age you and make you feel old too. Sugar and processed food are two culprits, of course. Some of them are foods that I can't personally avoid, but the more you can avoid, the better. You might want to research the "anti-inflammatory diet". Anything that makes you feel better is going to make you look younger.

I agree. I saw a pic of Goldie Hawn without makeup. She is 60-ish and has had lots of surgery. With makeup and the right lighting she looks gorgeous, but in harsh daylight she looks downright odd, with the facelift scars distorting her face. She'd look better if she looked like a regular 60-yr-old.

A lot of people are getting Botox, which is even scarier!! Sure it's a quick, outpatient procedure, but I'm afraid it's going to be the next Silicone. Movie stars used to use silicone injections to look younger, and now people are getting gangrene under their skin, and looking downright freaky. Better to look naturally aged!!

My sister has been doing face lifts and laser.shes only 41 she started 3 years ago.It dosent look right. She has scars behind her ears and dosent have ear lobes because she was too young for that.Dont do any thing to your face for now that requires surgery. There are new procedures out there, but I would wait to see the out come. You know how something new comes out,and 5 years later it gives you cancer or something.Im 47, and look 30,dont drink, smoke or go out in the sun.Yes my skin is nice,I eat good exercise, and go to bed early.I see a few things here and there that I dont like ,like a little sagging around my neck,or eyes, but at least I have no wrinkles.Ill wait to see what the surgeons come up with in about 10 years before I do anything to my face.Everything now looks so unnatural.By the way,my husband is 26.So dont worry about aging, cause if you do,you will get old from worrying so much,,,I used to be like that too.I use Q 10 on my face every night, and sunscreen before I even step out of my house.I still look younger than my sister even with all her surgeries.Drink lots of water, eat well and the most important thing,be happy your alive and have good health.Take care....

After menopause we are invisible anyway. So enjoy being pre-menopausal now, and enjoy the invisibility after.

I don't think anyone is ever "invisible" unless they choose to be. I think why some people don't look good after plastic surgery is because they start having work done at too young of an age and then repeat it later. I'm 50 and the only thing I've had done is my eyes, upper and lower bleph. Most people think I"m forty. Like the other poster said, I take great care of my skin, using a combination of glycolic lotion (20 percent strength) and copper peptide lotion at night. My skin has a youthful glow to it since I started doing this regime.

Also, for about 20 years I have been taking lots of natural vitamins, so I think this has helped also. I've also exercised regularly for about 10 years, doing mostly aerobics and some weight lifting, and I have the same figure I did in high school.

So, if you take care of yourself, exercise and eat well, you can look a lot better than your true age.

I am planning to get a facelift, but not until around at 53 or 55, when I really need it.

I was just wondering if the plastic surgery yall are talking about under eyes is just for puffiness, or would it work on the horizontal deep creases under the eye. 6 mos ago I had a major exam and stuff and was on the computer a lot, these creases started showing, i thought they would go away after my exam they didn't. 6 mos I've had deep creases under my eyes, 4 under one eye, and 2 under the other. The crow's feet are there too but i like them. i'm using like pure collagen now. I dunno if it will help any. Any advice about the plastic surgery? and did the viaviente help the under eye wrinkles? Could it be that i lost weight too and that's a reason? Any advice woudl be great!

I remember obssesing about getting older as I turned 30 too. Now that sounds real young. Just do the best as you can with good diet, excersise, good face creams. Keep remembering that aging is better than not being here to keep living. It really has a lot of good things that come with it, but no one could have told me that either when I was turning 30.

Thanks, I'm going to check out Perricones products, Via Viente, and research!

I'm 61. I bought Perricone's cream and it did NOTHING for me. Far as facelifts go, I hadn't seen a friend for ten years and ran into her. She had had a facelift and I was SO JEALOUS that she looked EXACTLY as she had ten years ago.
There I was all saggy w/lines and she looked gorgeous. You have to find a doctor who produces a "natural look" instead of those ghastly Hollywood
pulled too tight lifts that make you look like a Monster. I could not believe that with all the millions Priscilla Presley has she appeared on Oprah's show with this fake face--her mouth ? Oh, brother; the top lip looked just like a heart. That was the shape. I liked her eyes, though. :o

Sometimes just freshening up your skin can make you look much better.

The best thing I've found for making a person look younger is egg white mask made from plain eggs from the fridge. You have to let it dry to the point where you look like you're a dried up prune for it to be effective and then wash it off with luke warm or cool water. It does wonders for a few hours. I bought a jar of powder years ago called 'face lift' something or other for about $50 and it worked absolute miracles when I put it on. I checked the ingrediants on the label and saw it was powdered egg whites was how I got started with egg white masks. Sometimes I splurge and buy the product at the grocery store called 'egg beaters'. It is great as a mask.
