On dialysis 3x week. On Medicare. Need Knee replacement. How does one go about co-ordinating all this?

The surgeon should be co ordinating with your ins co.regarding this,or your primary doc.I would go see your regular doc and find out just who is doing what.You really should not have to deal with it at all.They can do all of the scheduling for you.Good luck to you.marcia

Thank you so much. I'm posting this for a friend who is going through this nightmare. Her orthopod doesn't seem to want to deal with the issue of the dialysis and her kidney doctor doesn't seem to want to deal with the knee issue. Her primary doctor is a heart specialist and she can't get an appt. with him for 3-4 months!!!! Your post makes sense in that her primary must take the initiative. She's just about out of hope, but maybe another try.

If your friend is on dialysis and goes to an outpatient clinic, tell her/him to talk with the social worker and the clinic. They may be a good source of information.
