Hello I am new to the ED boards. I uesd to be Anorexia in Highschool, then bulimic then it all went away..............I had 2 children doing awesome and now I get these episodes every so often that last 1 week to maybe a months where I eat and purge............This was one of those weeks and I gained 5.5 lbs................Is this from the vomiting(which I would assume would cause weight loss) :confused: I was so discourage today to weigh myself.........I am almost always 126-127 and today 131.5 just since I last weighed on Tuesday. Would someone please help me out.........I do not want this weight gain to cause to me become full blown bulimic...........

Well in my experience weight that comes on and off that easily is usually water weight. So try not to freak out. Don't binge and purge any more (that doesn't actually do anything for your weight because a lot of your food already gets digested by the time you purge) and just try to eat normally. Give it a few days and your body should come back to normal.

hey there fusionqueen, that is quite strange, as i was anorexic in high school, then bulimic after as well. i still have binge problems several times a week,but i can't make myself purge much anymore. i can gain 10lbs in 4 days if i don't workout. i am thinking i probably screwed up my metabolism in high school where all i was eating was lettuce,egg whites and popping metabolife 356 pills all day long. i am 5'2" and am currently weighing 140 lbs :confused: and am desperately trying to get back down to my 125. i know how it feels to get on the scale and find it jumped up some. if you don't mind me asking, what foods do you binge on?? for me it's fat free fig newtons,natural peanut butter, and granola cereal. just last week i ate 1/2 a jar of peanut butter and an entire package of those fat free fig newtons!!!! i was so angry i went to the gym at 3am to try to work it off. anyway, have you ever tried that apple cider vinegar drink?? i just got some 3 days ago and i'm hoping it's going to work. it's supposed to help you lose body fat. we'll just see.....later girl

Have you got trans-fats in your diet?
Trans fats reduce your bodies ability to extract minerals from your food so your body needs more to survive.
Search "Trans Fats" on the internet.

It could literally be anything...water retention is most likely. Vomiting dehydrates you, so your body craves salts (they retain water)..you likely couldve eaten salty foods and thus retained more water. It will pass in a few days, don't worry.. it's likely NOT actual weight, but more like temporary weight that will be lost naturally!
