Hi, ive had alot of serious health problems lately but my doc thinks its anxiety, now im waiting till monday to make an appointment for a neurologist since i've had many many problems lately, too many to list. But just now I've had something new and I cant even go to bed how scared I am! this is what happened...I got really tired so i laid in bed and then when i was in the right before you fall asleep state I stopped breathing! for a short while and then i suddenly twitch badly and it wakes me up. SO i tried to sleep again normaly and it happened again! i dont even realize it till i notice my body twitch real hard and now im sitting here in front of the computer typing this. there is no way that im returning to be since i just cant stop thinking about it now and maybe it might be causeing it? It could also be sleep apnea right? Im so confused but please help me out I really dont feel like going to the ER the third time this month. (other two were different problems.)

Sorry for not including this but I think I should post my other symptoms as well so you guys can tell me if this I should go to the ER. I've had all sorts of vision problems for more than 4 days now, they last almost the whole day, sometimes blurry vision, blind spots and even more weird stuff, then there is the eye pain and the feeling of inflammation behind my eyes (my whole forehead area and behind me eyes are really hot.) then the most thing i've been concerned about which is that i've felt completely gone for the whole 4 days now, I feel like im on some drug and try my best to concentrate when talking to my parents or so but I get so dizzy and confused and this also lasts really long, it really scares me. I also have breathing problems due to anxiety I guess but its gotten worse since my chest now hurts all the time and the airways to my lungs hurt or maybe its just the feeling of that but its in that area. Also i can barely breathe through my nose. I also have tremors ALL the time. and now the newest symptom which I told you about I cant even sleep since my brain seems to just forget it! would this be an emergency? or should I wait till monday or tuesday for the sake of my parents since they are going to hate me forever if I ask them to take me to the ER again.....

please respond ASAP I just dont know what to do, thanks!

you sound exactly like me when I had my first panic attack. Exactly. Scared me to death. Felt like if I fell asleep, I'd die. What helped me is two things actually. One, you won't die. Doesn't sound like much. But it does help... And two: if I were to die, I'd have no more pain...

You deffinatly have an anxiety problem. I highly recomend you finding a TEMPORARY solution by taking a benzo drug to help you sleep. (benzo= xanax, klonopin, ect) Benzo's reduce anxiety a lot. They have saved many lives, including mine. But they are addicting.

Other that that, I would say you had sleep apnea too. I stopped breathing too before I learned to control my anxiety...........somewhat.

Hope you get better, I've been there. SUCKS ***!

I know what you mean but the thing is that i already AM on xanax, it helps me relax but something is still preventing me from breathing even if im awake and not concentrating on breathing, I get sudden shakes or twitches when I let my brain do the breathing because I guess there isnt enough oxygen coming in? If I got to the ER and tell the doc all this, do you think he will acctualy let me get my brain scaned or just give me some tablets because the reason I want to visit is just to the that done and not to waste money and go to a neurologist on tuestday! any tips on what I should say when I enter the ER?

Sounds like your heart skipping beats making you feel like you haven't been breathing. Do you awake with a "jolt" so to speak? I have PVC's and have the exact same thing. They are definitely worse in people with anxiety or stress.

I made an ER trip once because I was afraid I was going to die in my sleep. I also thought I was stopping breathing. It was just the PVC's throwing off my body's "rythm" and making it feel that way.

I was on Ultram at the time, and I was told that any drug that alters your perception or brain function can actually make PVC's worse because people with anxiety are aware of EVERY little thing, and feel the alterations and it causes them more worry. So could the Xanax actually be contributing to the problem?

They are also MUCH worse when I've smoked too much or had too much caffeine.

Hi, thanks for the responses everyone. Yeah they are jolts and they bring me back to consciousness when im half asleep. I had my thyroid checked I think...do they find out in just a blood test or what? because my doc said it was fine. I was able to sleep for a few hours with my mom watching me but I still had about 6 or so jolts before I acctualy fell asleep, I guess I need to tell that to the neurologist that im seeing since they wont take me to the hospita. :o

i know exactly how you feel.
last year i suffered panic attacks a lot and sleep apnea which sounds like what you have. was on diazepam but still didnt work.
have nightmares too so im too scared to sleep.
maybe you should see a counciller?

Yeah definitly should...since there doesnt seem to be another way. Did you also feel like you would pass out suddenly (later on a day)?

yes ive felt like that today which is why i'm confining myself to my room!

honestly you'll be ok. your brain wakes you up if you temporarily stop breathing in your sleep. the more you worry the owrse it gets .
