hello. I should have found this board earlier. I was on the depression board for the past couple of days and nobody really knew how to answer my question...

So I just started on Sprintec, I think its called, about 3 weeks ago... And I feel so completely different now it's unbelievable. I am depressed, anxious, I constantly feel I am going nuts, I lost my sex drive completely, am irritable, cry for no real reason, the whole world feels different and just darker, I feel like I am losing my ability to experience love and happiness and all... has anybody ever experienced anything like this before being on the pill? It got so bad I just stopped taking them 2 days early cause I couldn't deal with it anymore. I got my period now, but still feel the same... not sure if its the pills or something else causing it. But can anyone let me know if any of this sounds familiar?

These are very common side effects of the pill. Your practioner would probably recommend that you remain on this pill for a few more cycles. Most side effects go away after a few cycles. If the problems still exist after a few cycles, let your prescriber know. You may respond better to another pill.

The first time I went on Ovcon-35 it made me severely depressed (extremely lethargic, sensitive, crying spells, etc.). I was only on it for 4 months but the last 3 of them I was depressed. I had to go off it, I couldn't stand it. However, now I'm back on it (almost 6 months) and I don't have the depression this time, but I've gained 7 lbs. (go figure). If anything, I'm depressed about that. I'll take it for another month, but if I can't get the weight off, I'm going off.

thank you for your response.
I considered this option, but things got so terrible that I just stopped altogether, since I really only started taking them because 1) i tend to get bad cramps and my periods always moves closer and closer together, then jump apart and it gets annoying, so I wanted to make that go away (but its not worth sacrificing my mental health!) 2) my mom told me to. o_O
So its not a huge issue for me to just stop taking them. But how long will these symptoms persist after I've stopped taking the things? :(

After I went off the ovcon, I felt immediately better.

I stopped taking it 3 days ago, and still feel badly... should I wait for my period to be over before I expect the depression to go away? I am getting worried that somehow it's not actually because of the pills....

I am taking Sprintec also. Or, atleast I WAS. I had to stop taking them! Everything you have felt, I have felt too. Depressed, over anxious, over analyzing EVERYTHING, crying for no reason, feeling like life is hopeless and pointless....it was awful! A few days after I started taking the white pills to start my period, I felt my normal self again. Then, after starting up the BC again, I started to feel depressed after being on them for a week.

It's not worth it. I need to find a different brand!
