I was wondering if anyone knows what a HIGH Protein C count could mean. I know what a Protein C deficiency is but not sure about the count being high.

I do have lupus and have had a positive lupus anticoagulant which I found out after I had a stroke in Feb.

I don't see my dr. for another week so just wondering if anyone has had a high protein C. Thanks, Bern :wave:

High C-reactive protein means inflammation in your cardiovascular system. If you have C-reactive protein more than 3mg/dl, you will be at high risk for heart disease.

This may sound like a dumb question but is Protein C (a test done in clotting studies) the same as C Reactive Protein? Thanks for your help.

Sorry, maybe I was wrong before. The C reactive protein test is different with C Protein Test in blood clotting test.

Normal values are 60% to 150% inhibition.

Elevated levels of Protein C and Protein S are not usually a problem as long as the protein is functional and, in the case of Protein S, free. If both the activity and the concentrations of Protein C and Protein S are normal, it usually indicates adequate clotting regulation. If the activity of Protein C or Protein S is low then it is likely that that protein is not functioning normally.
