hello. i dont post very much but i think i need some answers. i am 18 yrs old, 6 ft and weigh about 160-165. as a child i was very overweight. at one point i was around 230 or so. then i discovered ED's...and i lost all my weight and struggled with anorexia for a few years. then after i lost it all i became a mess and still am. i binge and then starve and then binge and then starve, etc. ive been through all the meds...prozac and every other anti-depressant, and they just never worked. well i talked to my doctor about this and he has now presbribed me to adderall time released...30 mg pills. now i am wondering if anyone has ever been prescribed to adderall for bingeing and stuff like that...and if its something i should be taking...

I find that to be VERY interesting...Adderall is an amphetamine, which supresses appetite...a friend of mine gave me some one to try at a club because it peps you up...I found that I didn't want to eat when we went out for pizza afterwards. I thinks it speeds up your metabolism too because I've heard of people loosing weight on it. Have you tried it? Is it helping?

ok. ive been on it for about 3 days now. i found that the first day i barely ate anything. i think i had a cereal bar and thats all. the next day i ate a little more...but yes it does suppress ur appetite and it is helping wonderfully with the bingeing. im still eating normally now...but no more bingeing and going crazy.

The only problem is that it wears off. Ive been on it for 2 weeks and have binged and purged more in the last week than in the last 20 years. Because of the waves of the drug, when it goes away, you end up binging more than if you weren't on the drug at all be careful.

Hey -
Just a thought...but your doctor is aware of your eating issues, right? I know when I was looking to get on some meds for depression they wouldn't put me on any kind of appetite suppressing drug. If you truely want to get past the binging I think a very important part of it will be doing it as un-drugged as you can. I'm an absolute advocate for medication, I think it saves lives. But there might be a better alternative to adderal, because I'm sure the temptation to continue to starve and binge will be there after you discontinue the use of the drugs. Just something to consider...
