Hi there,

Well, I developed lower back pain last Wednesday night and called my doctor on Thursday and he told me to take muscle relaxants because it was probably due to a pulled muscle. Well, the pain got worse on Friday and I ended up with severe lower back pain and abdominal pain and went to Urgent Care on Saturday and they said I had blood in my urine and did an x-ray and it showed a kidney stone as a probable 4 mm, but it wasn't exactly clear. I was instructed to follow-up with my doctor on Monday (I changed to a new doc on Monday) and he is going to have an IVP scheduled for me to do. Has anyone had this pain for this long when they had a kidney stone? Could it be stuck? I am taking cranberry pills, drinking lots of water and cranberry juice and still not passing stones, just white stuff (I have a strainer).
I am so confused!

Thanks

I had pain off and on for 6 months with my first kidney stone waiting for them to diagnose it (I was 17). 4 mm is passable but if it was found on a regular KUB it actually might be larger - the IVP or a CT Scan will be more accurate. Keep up a ton of water and definitely follow up. Good luck!

Is an IVP always required for kidney stones? is the pain more intense when you move, or is it always there?
I have recently been diagnosed with kidney stones, but there is no obstruction, so I shouldn't be feeling anything. But I'm in pain nearly every day now.
