hey, im 20 and lead a very sheltered life so the most obvious problem and i havent a clue. lately ive been having a really bad smell down "there"...it kinda smells like ammonia. my underwear is sometimes wet and it smells bad or theres white discharge on them... it smells really strong and its so embaressing in work. i wash regularly and just cant stop this or the smell... please can anyone help?

sounds like you might have some kind of infection..you should go get it checked out.

i get really embaressed at my doctors and with the smell i would be mortified, is there no other way?

There's no other way, if you want to get rid of it. If it's bacterial vaginitis (characterized by a watery smelly discharge) you will need a prescription from a doctor for oral or topical antibiotics. It's okay to be embarrassed as long as you don't let it stop you from taking care of business. And this needs to be taken care of as soon as possible.

Don't worry about being embarrassed. The doctors deal with that stuff all the time! Infections are very common and I'm sure the doctors see women very often with them. It's well worth it in the end to have the smell taken care of...believe me. Good luck

If you have an "ammonia" like smell, it may be that you simply need to clean really well after urination. You may also be dribbling urine and not be aware of it.

I have gotten that too for years and I'm fine. My dr. said it's from a stress hormone that is released.
He told me to use acidophilus and I do, but it's still there.

Know the feeling at first i taught i was me but went to the doctor and what you have is call vaginal vacatinoisit it a form of an infection that women get there is not to be embrassed about the doctor will give you a cream to insert for three days or give you oral medication the promblem will clear up we are women and this is a way the body gets rid of the impurited that we have you will be ok go and see a obgyn

My SURGEON said that I need to give my body defenses against this and balance out the PH. He told me to use the garlic and acidolphilus.
I had no infection.
