I've been wearing glasses since I was a little kid. I'm 20 now and am going to be starting a new job that requires safety glasses. Unfortunatly, without glasses I'm just about as blind as a bat, and my job won't cover the cost of prescription safety glasses until I've been there like a year or more.
Here's my problem, I tried contacts before when I was about 14 or 15, but I never managed to be able to get them in. I tried and I tried, but it's like the more I tried, the more stubborn my eyes reflexes to them got... I just couldn't keep my eyes open. What are some tips to putting in contacts?
Also, how much $$ does disposable contacts cost nowadays?

I always had a tough time getting contacts in because I was afraid of poking my eyes out. But I just use my index and thumb fingers and hold my eyes open and quickly put them in. The less thinking about it, the easier it's going to be.
I have monthly disposables that cost $35 per box (3 pairs in a box).

so 3 months for $35?
Yup, one box with 3 months worth of lenses for $35. I use Focus Monthly disposables.

WOW! That's cheap!! My daughter gets those and they are $350.00 per year! Or is that price with insurance? If it's not, I have to inquire about that brand. Are they the ones you use for a month and then throw out?

Hi Sunlover,
My insurance covers my eye exam but not the contacts that I buy, so I pay out of pocket. I used to get them through my eye doctor, which cost about $45 per box and now I use 1-800-contacts. I bought a year's supply for only $100 (that was including a $40 rebate). To answer your question, it is the one that you use a month and then throw out. They're by Ciba Vision.
