Heya everyone..
gone to my gastro after 1 month of tenesmus..
done rectal ultrasound - everythings ok
sigmoidoscopy - everythings ok
blood tests - everythings ok
stool/urine culture/parasite test - everythings ok
im 29 and my doc wants me to take a colonoscopy, i think its just too much..
the main problem is the feeling that im not empty, and ribbon shaped stool.
besides that, no blood, no cramping, no pain, nothing...
could it be IBS? my psyc. told me he's sure its IBS, but i really want a more solid answer than that..
any ideas?
i mean.. wherever i go, ribbon shaped stools means cancer or polyps.. none of the ibs articles ive read said that ibs got a ribbon shaped stool symptom..
thanks

Nothing in the sigmoid? Can cancer/polyps cause tenesmus if it is so far back in the colon that sigmoidoscopy can't see it? I don't know, I am just adding a question. If your doctor says you should get a colonoscopy then do it. At least you know you have a doctor that cares and really wants to make sure you know the problem isn't serious.

Have the colonoscopy. At least there's no guessing from there on  As well, the doc will do biopsies to make sure there is no precancer
Your psychologist/psychiatrist is basing his/her opinion on psychological aspects. Valid, but clearly not diagnostic :nono:
Have the colonoscopy. For the next twinge, the next cramp will just leave you guessing then justifying....now THAT will be stressful and self-inflicted :dizzy:
GO!

thnx for the replies...
i think ill go for the virtual colonoscopy.. although i understand that the preperation is the same..
some people even say the prep is worse then the test itself lol..
