I guess we will have to forgo eating food. NOT! I have issue with this from time to time. It is a problem. for me, eating fresh vegs seems to help some. At least the smell is less.

I have this too and my doctors don't act like it's a big deal. They always say it's diet related but it happens no matter what I eat. Also it's just another thing to go with my upper right quadrant discomfort. Another thing with my gas is that it seems to happen almost immediately upon eating. Seems like a GB problem but no diagnosis yet.

what does beano and gasx do?

I beleive Beano and Gasx deal with stomach gas. It's tough to deal wih the bacterial gas caused by food in your intestine. I have heard that charcoal tablets can help because it acts as a good absorber but it can also absorb vitmains, medications, etc so you need to consider that.

Beano is only meant to help digest beans and legumes, but not other foods.
Try eliminating all dairy from your diet for a week, in case it's lactose intolerance. Eliminate gas-producing foods like beans, brocolli, cabbage, garlic, onions, and soy for a week. If this doesn't help, beans are healthy, but canned RINSED beans are the easiest to digest.
Try eating smaller meals, instead of 3 large meals.
Health food stores sell digestive enzymes (such as "Digest" by Enzymedica or "Maxi-gest" by Country Life) designed for helping digest all different types of foods. If these don't help, you might try a supplement of Betaine HCl (by Solaray or Nature's Life), in case your stomach is not producing enough hydrochloric acid.
At the same time, take a good probiotic supplement (the good bacteria in our intestines.) I like EPS by Jarrow (comes in a yellow box) or Reuteri by Nature's Way (in a white box) sold in the refrigerated section at health food stores. Take one every morning upon waking.
Weight bearing exercise (walking, jogging, stairmaster) helps the gas pass through, too.
Good luck; I hope these things help.

I have the same problem, has been very bad for a long time. Bothers me to the point that I hardly go out anymore. Can't eat a lot of things I should be eating.....fibre and most veggies bother me terribly. Have to take calcium for thinning of the bones in my hips. On lots of meds for different problems...some of them cause gas apparently. If any of you find a cure please let me know. ........tired of living like this. Drs just look at me with a puzzled look.

I had that very severely at one time. For me it was not only from the gastronintestinal stuff but also from soy - soy does that.
I think cucumbers and also apples can do that too. I suggest talking to perhaps a naturopath or nutritionist. I think there are some spices that can help that - basil might be one. Also being lactose intolerant can do that - milk sometimes can do that to people. I hope this helps some.

Ask your doctor about Librax. I started taking that before I eat to help with IBS. Seems to be working. It is also an anti- anxiety pill.

I took Librax before but that was before my gas problems started. It was a decent anti-anxiety agent but I respond better to Xanax. I am on Lexapro now and my gas has reduced tremendously. I still have my upper right quadrant pain but I might say that it feels somewhat better. I hope when I get to the full does of Lexapro that I notice a big difference. Probaly just wishful thinking ...

I suffered from bloating, cramps, and gas for years. I went to a Proctologist about 8 years ago, and he found nothing wrong. Last February, I found out that I am allergic to yeast. I have since eliminated yeasty foods, and for the first time in my life, I am finally free from misery. The only time I ever feel discomfort now is when I cheat...I get cramps within 30 minutes. Perhaps you are allergic to some foods you are eating daily.

I am new to Healthboards. I was reading this thread and I thought I would write in too. I just started having a similar problem with gas. I wondered if it could be caused by any of the vitamins I take. I never had this problem before. Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

PennyHickey,
Because I am allergic to yeast, I have had to eliminate my B-Complex vitamin (loaded with yeast), and I have to make sure that any vitamin I take is yeast-free. I remember I'd always feel sickly after taking my a.m. dose of vitamins and assuming they were rancid or something. Now I never have that sickly feeling.

Not that I am questioning you being allergic to yeast...but you may want to try a liquid multi-vitamin. I went to GNC and picked up a huge bottle, or try CVS. I cannot break down tablets..they take too long. I do have a question for you, though...do you get a white pasty coating on your tongue at times?

gas in the intestine is though to be caused by lack of good bacterial colony.
try probiotic to re-colonize your intestine with right sort of bacterias.
you can get them at wallmart or GNC kind of places.
also known as Acidophilus

Hi everyone,
Well, I decided to try eliminating all my vitamins for a few days to see in that helps with the gas problem, and guess what? it did! No more gas! So now I will introduce each one separatly to see what happens till I find the one that is causing it. I don't know about the yeast allergy. I never was before but who knows. Things change all the time.
