I've been constipated for about the last week. It's so uncomfortable. I have bad gas/stomach pains, I'm bloated, and I feel very nausiated. I just feel so icky.
I haven't been constipated since I was very young, so I don't really know what to do. I know fiber is good. But, how much? I always eat lot's of whole grains and drink lot's of water. I don't know what else to do. I just want to have a bowl movement so I won't feel so icky anymore.

For immediate relief, go to the drugstore and buy an enema bag and use lukewarm water. Let the water, into your lower rectum, slowly. Follow the directions about how to use an enema bag. This is very helpful, when over the counter products don't work. Also, use some sort of fiber therapy, like Citracil, daily.

Get some magnesium aspartate and take between 400mg and 1200mg, depending on bowel tolerance, (too much can cause loose stools) before bedtime. It's a natural muscle relaxer. I would start with 400mg and work up the dosage until you get results..

Also, taking pure psyllium capsules, 3 in the a.m. and 3 in the p.m. with a glass of water will help you stay regular, without constipation. Then, drink some hot lemon water about a half an hour later, sweeten if needed, and that will help stimulate the bowel and get things moving. Eat whole fruits, not juices, for the fiber. Also, plums, sweet potatoes and cruciferous veggies help with elimination. It's really important to drink lots of water with the fiber.

try some prune juice!
It will work! Naturally, not with any pills, or chemicals!

Very Uncomfortable, I know how you feel, I have the same problem, I can go for 2 weeks with no BM and, you're very right, uncomfortable to say the least !! I found a possible answer through a cousin of mine, who had the same prob and had surgery, now she's doing great and having 2 or 3 BM's a day. She's thrilled because now she doesn't have to take enama bottles on her honeymoon, lol. The Dr. told her that there are hundreds of little nerve endings all up and down the colon and that some of the nerve endings sometime die and when they remove the dead ones, it's back to normalville !!! By the way, it's called Colonic Inertia. Hope this is of some help. Good Luck :) JanOk
