Hello! We are discussing diabetes in school and I am worried about some of the symptoms. I feel like I pee a lot, and I'm wondering how much would be too much? Like enough to get it checked out? However, I drink about 8-10 cups of fluids each day, mostly water. I am only 19, but could I be at risk? Just let me know what you think... Anyone who was diagnosed, and urinated a lot, I'd love some feedback... THANKS! P.S. What are some other common symptoms?

Are you getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom? That's something that you shouldn't have to do at your age but if you had high blood sugars then you would, probably more than once a night. Have you lost weight recently for no reason? That's a definate sign of diabetes.
Other signs are excessive thirst, excessive hunger, blurry vision, tingly hands and feet, and eventually stomach pains, shortness of breath and vomiting.
Self diagnosing diabetes is difficult because a lot of the symptoms are things you might overlook. And yes, you could be at risk at age 19. Most people with type 1 are diagnosed right before puberty but it can happen at any age.
If you are getting up to go to the bathroom and losing weight then get yourself to a doctor. Those are two things that would definately be happening and also you would definately be excessively thirsty. The rest of the symptoms are something you MAY have, but don't necessarily get right away.

a bloodtest for glucose or bloodsugar levels done about 1 hour after eating can be helpful, some diabetes educators or pharmacists will do this for you
more sure is to get doc to order a glycolated haemoglobin test which shows the average of your bloodsugar levels for the last 3 months
