my mri report stated that i had a 4mm diffused disc buldge which i think is a full blown herniation. it also said that there are bone spurs. how serious does this seem. my back says very serious (lol) but i wanted to get your opinions. it also said i had left and right nerve impingement or whatever.

how serious is this. is 4mm a big herniation. what about the bone spurs. is this bad or common in for lumbar pain. thanks, jason

Hello
jayboy557 If I were you I would get the advise of a ortho spine doc or a neurosurgeon with a spine fellowship. You are the only one who knows how much pain you are in. If you let this go with the nerve inpingement for very long it could really mess you up. I know a guy who let his go too long and he has one leg that looks like a toothpick while the other looks normal. You really need to see a doc!

thanks for the response.

the report also says that i have lateral disc material which i guess has something to do with the 4 mm disc herniation. i have a doctor and am scheduled for artificial disc replacement. the doctor just didn't seem to explain the mri so i could understand it.
