I think this may be the cause of my overly irritated vaginal opening. I thought it was because I contracted an STD, but I am now suspecting (because of the smell) that I may have both BV (bacterial vaginosis) and a yeast infection at the same time?!? Does anyone know if this is possible?

If anyone has had this, please let me know that I am not going crazy! Thanks.

this is not likely to happen, since if bacteria is present, there will not be an overgrowth of yeast. when a yeast infection occurs, it's because bacteria that keep yeast in check are wiped out, like after you take antibiotics. I have had trich (which has a horrid smell) and a yeast infection at the same time, though, but trichomoniasis is caused by a protozoa, which is different from regular bacteria I think. my advice would be to just go to a doctor.

I went to the doctor and found out I did have both a yeast infection AND BV at the same time. But I didnt find out I had them both at the same time until the 2nd visit when I was going to get treatement for the yeast infection.
