I recently had a cervical mri and my MD called to tell me it said cervical spondylosis and some narrowing and that I should see a Neruo Surgeon.

I picked up a copy of the report and this is what is says.
Multiple sequences and multiple projections demonstrate cervical spondylosis with joints of Luschka hypertrophy at C5-6 and C6-7.

Encroachment on the neural foramina are present more severe on the right than left.
No disc herniation.

Well I don't see anything that says narrowing and my neck and shoulders have a burning pain with my arms feeling like rubber bands and then my neck feels like I cannot hold it up because it is on a rubber band.

I had a pinched nerve last summer and went to a chiropractor that told me it was serious then . The pain traveled down my left arm to my hand the fingers are still numb and i have weakness using it over my head.
My reflexes are slow in my arms and I don't have any reflexes in my ankles. I don't know if that is related but my ankle reflexes are just dead.

Can anyone please comment on the MRI and what any of these things mean.
thanks,
Suttles

I don't undestand any of this report.
I have done searches and even where is starts out saying (multiple sequences and multiple projections demonstrate cervical spondylosis with joints of Luschka hypertrophy.)

What does all that mean?

Then is says encroachment of the neural foramina are present.

I have gotten a little better at understanding that I think.
My sympomts have been burning neck and shoulder pain with weakness.
I had a pinched nerve last summer and the weakness from that has not gone away. I still have numbness in my fingers and somtimes the entire hand.
This is the side that is not the worst according to the report.
For the past few years it often feels like there are rubber bands around my arms and now if feels lilke they are being held up like a rubber band.
They are weak and spastic like. My head feels like it is being supported by a rubber band for a neck.
Can anyone just give me some direction. I don't want to over react I just want to know if this justifyes needing to see a neuro surgion?
My MD said I should but he also said there was cervical narrowing and after I got a copy of this report the word narrowing is not in it.

I live in a small town and will have to go 100 miles to see a Neuro Surg and I don't know how.
I have lyme and after so many years of seeing Drs I don't want to see one and be told you don' t have anything to worry about.
I am not worried just don' t know if I need to see one.
Thanks,
Suttles

"Encroachment in the neural foramina" means that there is bony/calcified growth that is narrowing the openings that the spinal nerves come through. As you move, and muscles act on the spine, the nerves can more easily be compressed, causing pain, numbness etc.
