Hi I just recently found out that I am allergic to everything under the sun!! I went in cause I was having reactions when I ate apples and carrots, plus I was having some itchy running eyes and nose!! I went in a week ago to the allergist and failed the breathing test. He put me on predisone and Advair. I went on Tuesday for the follow up, and allergy testing, since it could not be done the first time I went in. I passed the breathing test and he was happy and I can finish easing off the predisone which I am thankful for!! So on to the allergy test and I find out I am allergic to all the trees, grasses, weeds, molds, dusts, cats, dogs, carrots, apples, soy and peanuts!! I have never been allergic to anything before in my life!! And now I am allergic to everything!! Out of the 54 things they tested me for I was not allergic to 3!! I am going on alllergy shots and he prescribed me Zyrtec and is having me continue the Advair since the indoor allergies can trigger asthma and I failed the first breathing test. I did not think about it too much yesterday, but I am freaking out and going nuts here!! I dont want to sleep in my bed, or sit on the couch, go outside, cause I know I am allergic to stuff now. Not only that he told me to NOT eat anything with soy, peanut, carrot, and apple. Well I went to the grocery store today and was so frusterdated I wanted to cry cause everything has SOY in it!! Soybean oil!! I called the doctor and he reiterated NO soy products!! I never knew how much stuff has soy in it!! Am I over reacting or does everyone go through this?? I cant get my house clean enough and I feel like I am turning into an obsessive compulsive!! ANY suggestions would be helpful!! Any insite or words of wisdom would be nice too. I just feel crazy here!! Any way to help ease these feelings?? Thanks :)

Well, I think you are just overwhelmed by it all! I'm 59 and the first time I went to an allergist I was 11 years old...my pediatrician gave up and sent me on at that point. I'm on injections for the 3rd time in my life and expect to have to do it at least once more before I pass on (good Lord willing!)...seems they only last on me around 10 years before things start going downhill again. My attitude is that I will not live in a bubble. I'm fairly compliant about taking my meds...I have asthma also and am VERY compliant about those! But, I have a 14 pound long haired cat who sleeps with me and is very much my baby. I love flowers and I have them in the house - except gardenias which no meds seem to be able to overcome. I have some episodes but I know why. I am allergic to some foods but I don't know which ones because I refuse to find out. Like I said, I'm not living in a bubble...I sort of know what to stay away from and I jsut take a Zyrtec if I think far enough ahead or a benedryl if I don't. You'll learn what triggers what and how to deal with it. Just part of the process...it will all be fine. Just remember, it's probably not going to kill you...so just hang tough!

Thanks for the insite. This is ALL new and just surprising to me!! I have been going down hill as far as noticing symptoms and such for the past few years, but I never would have though!! I know it is nothing that will kill me but I think it is just psychlologically overwhelming and as it sinks in it will get worst before it gets better!! I just have to figure out my questions and ask them so I can go from there!! I am just SO frusterated!!!! I guess it is normal!! Thanks though for the easing a bit!! :)
