What do you mean by "swelling"? The sore itself swelling? The area around it?

Yes, definitely, especially the day before the sore appears and then perhaps for two days more. Then it gradually lessens, and the tenderness centers on the sore itself.

I do and my husband does also . . . righ tin the spot where he is about to get a OB you can feel it a little puffy, same with me. Tender to teh touch, but otherwise we dont really feel it until the OB.

the area around it, pretty sure it's genital hsv1. going for 2nd test soon. it goes all down my legs below the knees. anyone else have any experience with that either.

what do you mean it goes all down your legs.....you get outbreaks below your knees??

Hey studly, I had my first OB early April and yes I had swelling where the sores were and discomfort down my butt and legs to my knees. Also my lymph nodes in the groin area swelled up. I also felt like I had a fever sometimes and the back of my neck ached pretty bad. I was really run down and tired too. I've had 2 outbreaks since then, which is a lot in just 1.5 months and the only symptoms have been the redness/tingle/itching just before a sore appears and the sores. So it does get better, now I am looking at how do I suppress this darn thing!

i get them below my knees whick sucks because it's summer. lately, i will swell and develope a a few blisters in that area. when i say swell i mean SWELL like you got hit with a baseball. it hurts and doesn't seem like normal herpes, i get it on my shoulders, my face, all over my legs. everywhere but my torso. :confused:

Did you get those sores on legs etc. cultured to make sure it is herpes? Many other skin infections could cause what you´re experiencing.

Could they be shingles? Which is also in the herpes family and they to are very painful.
