Hi all. I thought it would be good for all of us to post one or more GOOD things that have happened to us lately, especially with our backs, even if it's something small. Maybe that will lift some of the depression we are feeling.

I was able to get a longer walk in today, as my foot was doing well. For that I am thankful. Actually made it up some small hills without as much difficulty.

Last week, though someone tried to break in my front door, my dog ran them off, so I am thankful the intruder didn't get in. Being disabled with a weak leg and foot has made me nervous, as I know I cannot fight well if attacked. Thank heavens I didn't need to. Having a guard dog paid off. Still, that was very scary. and I am very lucky that I wasn't hurt. I also feel good because I have been telling people in the neighborhood to lock their doors and who knows, may have kept someone from being hurt.

Okay, what is YOUR good news and what are you thankful for?

I have managed to get through my second week of teaching rounds despite a bad fall mid week. I have 1 week to go and if I manged to get through I will have completed the final component of my grad dip in primary education (elemetary) That means I can teach as a casual relief or full time teacher depending largely on my health

History - L4/5 & L5/S1 Fusion 199o L3/4 bulge last year and scar tissue probs assoiciated with a bone graft from the illiac crest

Well, now let's see (hope you don't mind my jumping on board here :D )
My pain is down and I have finally been able to wean myself off of muscle relaxant since Sunday (so keep those fingers crossed ;) ) I can drive now, thank God :bouncing: and will be starting PT as soon as WC paperwork clears ~ been waiting a few weeks for that so perhaps we'll have good news on Monday. :dizzy:

BTW~this is a great idea.....I am a firm believer in looking for one good thing in each day even though we may have days that it seems soooo difficult to find one. Hope everyone stays at a pain level 1......now that's a good thing ;)

My son made me tear up the other day. He said "Mom...I want to thank you for teaching me how to count to 100" Keep in mind he is 6 and I taught him that about 2 years ago. So I told him that was quite a long time ago and he said "I know...it was in our old apartments. You used to come into my room and say all those numbers and I would repeat them...I just wanted to say thank you for doing that because that made me smart" He was really sincere with his words....it just made my day how serious he was in thanking me for that! It's the small things people! It really is. Okay....moving along...who's next? Good idea by the way!!!!!
Everyone have a blessed day

I think I've finally found my bridesmaid dresses!! I've been having a heck of a time getting them!! every dress I picked something went wrong with the designer!! after many trips to the bridal salon (which is a killer on me after working all day and then running around) and I found out of my bridesmaids is pregnant!!! we are all very happy!! just pray that I get through my pain to after the wedding to have surgery. If I had it before the wedding, I wouldn't be able to dance, or do anything on my honeymoon!!
But you have no idea how excited I am about the girls dresses!! oh- and my mom found a dress!! that has been a 6 month hunt and she found one!!!! just wait till she gets the bill!!!

 Well, I'm not sure you would call it a good thing, but the doctor gave me another script for Percocet and Robaxin, and I haven't had the painful spasms since, I take one twice a day, and have been able to sleep better, and am not screaming and jumping halfway off the bed with the spasms. So, I think with keeping them under control, I will be healing faster.Valley :bouncing: :D

Great idea! :bouncing: Okay, I FINALLY (after months of waiting) have an appointment with a "real" spinal doctor who has an actual spinal-only practice and a spinal fellowship :bouncing: on Monday (vs. my yucky ortho). Cross your fingers and send some prayers they can figure out what needs to be done to fix my fusion!!

Also, I finally found a pharmacy that carries the Sanchoz brand generic durageic patches (as the Mylan isn't so great), so I have them in my hot hands for tomorrows patch change! Yippee!! Also I can now change ever 2 days instead of every 3!

So pain meds that work pretty good, and a new dr., things are looking up!

Hi,
I had my first follow up with my spine surgeon this week. I had an L4-L5-S1 fusion two months ago. My back pain is almost gone, I can walk normal, and I feel great! The surgeon was impressed with my recovery so far, and was optimistic about my success. Xray showed the fusion was taking place.

I must say this was a HUGE relief because my surgery was rescheduled 4 times, with 3 different surgeons. (I am active duty Navy; one was deployed to Iraq, and the other one died while on leave). I was getting quite depressed, but finally this Army spine surgeon took me in and so far is the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion.

I like this thread, because sometimes I get down reading all these threads. I was in pain for over 3 years, and am finally looking on the bright side.

Best to all of you,
Katie

Hi everyone,

I had one of my many epidurals about 2.5 months ago. I can honestly say that despite all of the EIs downfalls and side effects, it gave me almost 2 full months of pain free days. I had no idea how much the pain was affecting me until it was gone. Over the 2 months, I actually got to the point where on some days, I didn't even think of the pain or the absense of it - I just felt normal again, a feeling I even forgot existed after the 5 years of constant pain. Can you imagine that?? Now that it is coming back, I'm very thankful for the normal days I was able to enjoy. Hope everyone else can enjoy some pain free days as well.

Hi Guy's  ,
I am Thankful my Surgeon found my problem (after my surgery) fast enough to go back in and correct it, This second surgery was a complete success :bouncing: and not EVEN as painful :bouncing: .

Diva78: That is so sweet, I did something like that as well, I taught my kids to count by always saying "I Love you", they replied; I Love you too, I then would go to : I Love you 3, and so on, when they could not count as high as I could; I would win the game, saying: I love you more cause I'm bigger!
The next day they paid more and more attention to try to beat me till they could finally say: I love YOU more cause I'M BIGGER!
Your Son is praising you for teaching him to count to 100 and that's obviously very important to him. I know the feeling, as a Grandmother now, My oldest daughter will remind me of things I did while raising them and tells me it meant so much to her, she is doing some of the same things with her family.
Enough to make me cry like a baby and I never knew they noticed all I did for them back then.
Bless You and Good Work!!
Stardust
