HI David,

You're very smart to do this research on your own. First, it will give you more confidence about your treatment if you find it really does meet your needs, and second, it will give you a good basis for discussions with your doctors.

Some ideas: There are a lot of high-end more technical, in-depth articles about almost any kind of treatment or drug online, but sometimes you can't get to the heart (no pun intended!) of the material without being a subscriber, which can be very expensive.

If you find that's true, then there are two ways you might be able to get a hold of entire articles. First, print the page that has the summary of the article and its location, and take that to your local library. Often one of the other branches of your library will subscribe to the service you need, and they'll get a copy of the entire article for you, sometimes for only the cost of copies. OR Second, ask your doctor if s/he subscribes to that service and if s/he will get a copy for you.

Here are some places I know of you can find info.... and these may help you find even more info:

Medline Plus is part of the National Library of Medicine: www.medlineplus.gov

National Insitutes of Health: http://health.nih.gov

MedHunt is a search engine of credentialed medical websites: http://www.hon.ch/MedHunt/

That's a start. There are many more sites listed at www.diagKNOWsis.org in the resources section.

Good luck! Let us know if you find any new resources you'd like to share with us.
