Epstein Barr is chronic mono. I had a major bout in 86 and again in 87. Since then, I just get tired very easily and if I don't get a lot of rest, I get sick. It's not nearly as severe as Chronic Fatigue, but it's from the same family. Just wondering if anyone here had that, too.

Hi VegasGirl, I had Mono when I was a teen-ager, but it wasn't really serious. (At least, not that I remember!) Now, I'm 34 and I get really tired a lot. I work the graveyard shift, and that shift really screws up your health. But I don't think it's normal to feel as tired as I do. Do you think Mono has any effect on you later in life? I haven't done any research on Mono. Just didn't think about it until I saw your post.

You probably did have the chronic version (epstein barr) and YES that is why you are tired all the time. Doctors fail to diagnose it for some reason, ESPECIALLY back when we were young. My doctors didn't diagnose me w/ epstein barr, I had to go to another town and see a specialist who said I had more than just regular mono. As an adult, you just get tired easily, and if you don't get enough rest, then your glands and throat kinda swell up, like your body giving you a warning that you need rest.

So, I'm not seeing here if there is or isn't a test for Epstein Barr?
Thanks, I'd like to know.

Your blood is tested.
I had such a bad bout with mono that I slept 23 hours a day for 6 weeks and then in bed another 6 weeks. I now have CFS but, negative Epstein Barr. My husband also had mono and negative EB.
