I have been on estrostep fe for the last 6 months now and on my last refill, they gave me estrostep and not estrostep fe...is there a difference?


Well, yes and no. The active ingredient is the same in both; both are the same hormones. The difference comes in the 4th week of pills. Estrostep Fe has iron tablet during the 4th week, whereas regular Estrostep has no placebo pills. In short, all that is different is the presence of iron tablets.

Regardless, if your doctor prescribed Estrostep Fe, that's what you should have gotten. Check with the pharmacy to see why the made the change, or if it was just a mistake.

i just noticed that my new pack only says estrostep on it (no fe like the old ones) though it does contain the row of iron pills. maybe its new packaging?

I don't think it's a new packaging, because I compared the two and they are made by different companies, one says parke davis and another says different (can't remember what). I think the difference is the iron that is in the placebo pills. But just to make sure, I'm probably going to take both of them back before I start the new ones.

interesting.....i just looked at my old pack & the new one & i see that they do say different companies on them. the new one says warner chilcott. i'm thinking that they are affiliated with one another. i will research this...
