wakes up almost every morning complaining that the bottom of her feet hurt. She limps out of bed. She has started complaining of it during the day too. She does have very low arches, could this be the problem. She is petite, and otherwise healthy. Please let me know what you think.....Thank you .....L

children with flat feet often outgrow them, particuarlt tall, slender children with flexible joints. Some experts suggest that if an arch forms when the child stands on tip-toes, then the child will probably outgrow the condition.
Flat foot is a defect that eliminated the arch. The condition is most often inherited.

Another possibility may be a condition known as "tarsal tunnel" syndrome, this results from compression of a nerve that runs through a narrow passage behind the inner ankle bone down to the heel. It can cause pain anywhere along the bottom of the foot. It is often associated with diabetes, back pain, or can be caused by an injury to the ankle by a growth, abnormal blood vessels, or scar tissue that presses against the nerve. Treatment usually involves specially designes shoe inserts, or treatment using orthotics. Hope this has helped.

Thank you Pineapple for your info , it certainly did help. Our oldest daughter (16) has orthotics as she is flat footed with slightly turned in knees. Kelsey, the one with the pain in her feet has grown alot this past 6 months. She is very slender but has very long legs. She often complains of the calfs and thighs aching at nights. I remember having this as a child too. I am going to take her to our local doctor and see what she thinks. Funny you mention nerves though. We have had a virus going around where we live that seems to affect the PNS. My oldest and I had strange aching and nerve sensations(twitching etc) for almost 3 weeks and they seemed to think it was viral. Who knows these days!! Thanks again for your reply.....L
