Hi...

Was wondering if you guys can help me out with this...well, those of you who have used Celexa.

I was on Zoloft back in '95, stayed on it for probably 5 or so years. It helped my anxiety, panic diorder and social disorder tremendously. I'm having problems again with anxiety, but the only thing I hate about Zoloft is, I had ZERO sex drive when I was on it! ZILCH...NADA!!!! My hubby was mad, and later I was too. That part of it was lousy.

Well, my brother was on Zoloft for years too, and he called me the other day and said that he's now on Celexa, and that it is wonderful, no side effects so far, (I think it's only been a month), and that it has NOT interferred with his sex drive?????????? I tend to not believe it, because Celexa is an SSRI too, isn't it? Don't they all have this negative effect??

Anyone know???

Thank you,
D-

by all means try the celexa. as you say both meds are the SSRI type but celexa is newer, so hopefully has less side effects

meds often work the same way for people in the same family

When I first started Celexa I was happily amazed that I had no sex drive problems at all--if anything I had a increase in feeling quite amourous with my husband. Now I am on Lexapro, and I am definately and equally thankful that there have been no sexual side effects. All is well. I personally would recommend giving Celexa a try.

I didn't have any problems on Lexapro until I started to take the 10 mg.

I had sexual side effects on Lexapro (the newer form of Celexa) even at the very low starting doses. But everyone is different.

Thanks, you guys. Interesting some do and some don't...guess it's all our own body chemistry, and how it handles it too. I take it Lexapro is also an SSRI?

What's the usual standard dose for Celexa?
Thanks...

Yes everyone is different, you just wont know until you try it. These things are trial and error and you just have to find out what works best for you.
