On Oct 27th 2000, I lost my husband to a major Heart attack at the age of 40. ( So they say) He left behind a very young family, wife and three samll children. I have been fighting for almost 5 years now for his medical records. I just recieved them yesterday May 21, 2005. There is alot of things in his medical records I do not understand and knew nothing about. My question is:

He had a complete physical 27 days before he passed....In his medical records from 98 to 2000, He was dianosed with LEUKOCYTOSIS....His Basophils were very high.....his SGA was high, His white Blood count was very high.....He had swollen and moveable Lymph Nodes in the front and back of his neck....He had a rash on his face and neck and bleeding gums.

I have been reading constantly since I recieved the records and i am no closer to finding out what all this means.

There is alot more, but these are the things that concern me.

Could he have had some sort of cancer...?

Thank you so much in advance for any replys..

It is certainly a possibility, especially if those counts were so abnormal for so very long. Its interesting you mention this because I have heared of cases where heart attacks occur in persons with Leukemia, or suspected of having Leukemia. Of course I cant post anything on this dictatorist board, but I can tell you it would not be impossible for that to have been the case. Nonetheless, if his counts WERE abnormal, at least one of his doctors probably would have ordered more testing for him. Docs are usually very good about catching Leukemic processes.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I do know on some of the physical reports that the doctor told him to go see his regular physician....BUT my husband was not one to go to the doctor so I believe he just let it go.
I'm just really cofused right now, because I had no idea any of this was happening. He had just turned 40 when he died and I thought he was the picture of health.....He made everyone believe that.

I know this may be difficult but why not make an appointment with his physician and go talk about your concerns? I found out some disconcerting things about my mother's medications and went to see her doc...I have her medical power of attorney and was well within my rights to do so. I would think that as his heir and executor (I assume this to be the case) you would have the same rights. At least you will know and understand the status of his health. As to his reasons for not sharing that information, you'll probably just have to accept that he chose not to or had not come to terms enough with it to share it yet. Good luck on your search.

Thank you.....Like I said, it took me 5 years to get his records. He working for an Atomic Plant and for whatever reason they did not want me to have his records. I have found alot of discrepencies in his records. For instance, the doctor who signed his medical records, no longer worked there at the time of his death....Coincedence....I don't think so. I am meeting with someone today to have them read the records for me.
Thanks for your time
