I have had issues with going the bathroom in strange places. Places out side my confort zone. It got really bad about 4 months ago and I decided to see a psychiatrist for help. I have been going to him for about 2.5 months now and I usually see him every two weeks. However I have concerns.
I am starting to believe he really isn't helping to treat my probblem. Whe I first went he asked me a lot of questions to get at what my problem was. Once he felt he had the i formation he needed he starting talking about how to terat it. His first suggestion was putting me on anti-anxiety meds. I said I didn't want to do that and he said ok we will try other methos but I may not be able to totally help you without drugs. At this time he also asked me preliminary questions about if I had symptoms of ADD and asked me to take and online test for ADD.
My anxiety left for about two weeks and when I saw him he used a technique called EMDR(I believe that's the name) to trya nd help me. He said this technique could take a while. He then did more tests to see if I had ADD.
Next time I visted my anxiety was back and he immediately said he wanted to puit me on Zoloft. He talked about all the side affects and how it worked. I said no I only want to do that as a last resort. He then said he still thought I might have ADD and asked me to take the online test again. We did not treatment using EMDR for my bathroom anxiety.
My last visit he saw my test result for ADD and said I may have it and he wanted to try me on some ADD drugs. He recommended Adderal. I said I had to talk it over with my wife and would go from there. He said the ADD may be part of the cause of my anxiety.
Right now I feel that my docytor is quick to try and throw me on drugs. It seems that his solution for all my problems. I was hoping we could try other techniques but he seems quick to suggest drugs. I also feel that right now I am not getting help for the problem I came to him to get treatment for.
I was hoping some folks here could give me some suggestions on what they think. Has anyone had similat experiences with a doctor they saw?
