Hi,
My name's Bobbie, I'm almost 18 and I've just started Uni this year. I'm a bit scared at the moment because I was referred to a hematologist because my platelet level has been mildly elevated and rising since 2003. I was told that it was 427 and now its 493 and I have no idea what that means. I'm set to have a bone marrow biopsy on Wednesday and I'm not really sure what's going to happen. My doctor said it could be 3 things, it could be nothing, it could be something called thrombocythemia, or it could be a form of luekemia (CML I think- does that sound right?). I don't really understand  but I'm a bit scared and I was wondering if there was anybody who knows more about this kind of thing or if there is anyone going through the same kind of thing?
Thanks,
Bobbie
