I started having excessive discharge from my eyes ten days ago and my eyes have sandy feeling these day. My doctor says it is “bledphaco conjunctivitis” or could be “bledphaco-conjunctivitis,” something like that. Anyway she said it is just a minor –infection and told me to use Tobrabex for a week. ( I know this eye drop has corticosteroid and can't use too long) I have finished it and it seems that I didn’t get help from this medicine. When I called her, she have me use Refresh Tears Eye drop as plus. I have been using this for one week and I don’t feel help from it.
I had conjunctivitis in past years and usually it only took me a few days to recovery. But this time it took me longer and even I used above two medicines and still not getting any better.
I am wondering if I can just keep using Refresh Tears these over the counter medicines without visiting my doctor to cure my eye problem or I must to visit my doctor again. In general I believe that doctors usually give you most efficient medicine when you first time visit them. I doubt if my doctor has better way to treat my eye problem if I visit her again. I don’t have a good medical insurance and I have to pay more the medical cost .
Any advices will be really appreciated. Thanks!

You need to go back so he/she can prescribe something else for you. Refresh tears are not a prescription they are over the counter dry/red relief. Refresh tears will moisturize your eyes. There are many diffrent kind of meds they can give you. Ask for some samples they always have some there.

Yes, you need to go back if you don't think the infection is cleared. There are many different anti-biotic drops you can use. Two of the newer ones that my doctor likes to use with me are called Zymar and Vigamox. Vigamox is very strong, and very good at clearing up conjunctivitis. If in fact, you do still have it, your doctor will need to prescribe a different anti-biotic drop. We always hope that the doctor gets it right and fixes us the first time around, but that doesn't always happen. Also, you may not have bacterial conjunctivitis. It could be viral, in which case you just have to wait for it to run its course and leave on its own. Tear drops such as the ones your doctor gave you will definitely help lubricate your eyes and alleviate some of the discomfort. But they will not get rid of the infection.

Blepharoconjunctivitis.

Schedule another appt. w/ your doctor, and she'll try something else.

The same thing happened with my husband it took about 3 or 4 weeks of back anf forth tho the doctor and many differnt kinds of meds and even blood work.
They finally found the right meds only after telling him he had Eye Herpes,
Now neither of us have any Herpe viruses of any other kind, just told him he must have come into cantact, could have been years ago, had to be atleast 10 years ago, with someone who had Herpes of the mouth, no other syntoms,
His eyes felt just like what pink eye feels like, just worse.
Good luck

My symptoms right now are tearing and pain ( or you can said it is irritation),
My doctor asked me to use Restasis once a day, Doxycycline I tablet ( 100 MG)
Every day, and FML S.O.P ( Apply to both eye lids at bedtime) , but I didn’t feel
they can help me. My doctor gave to me a conclusion is “ Blepharoconjunctivitis”
I think the full name is “ Blepharo-Keratp-Conjunctivitis” .
I have two questions here,
1) I am tearing right now, the Restasis works by increasing the amount of tears
I make, so I don’t know why my doctor still asked me to use it. She explained to
me but I don’t understand .
2) I am worry about if the problem will effect my vision finally.
Any advices will be really appreciated. Thanks!

If it is what my husband had then the answer is yes, it can cause blindness if not treated are at the least loss of % of eye site, as I said my husband went untreated properly for about a month and although the problem has gone he still has not gotton his full eye site back, only about 80%.
Good luck
