View Full Version : 15mos - yellow runny nose & cough - but not sick?

I watch a 15 month old boy. A couple of weeks ago his mom said that he was exhibiting allergy symptoms. But then I got really sick which I am assuming was from him and would be the 4th time I have gotten sick from him since December! When he went in for his 15mos check up the Dr sid he wasn't sick or anything.

Well that was a couple of weeks ago and the runny nose never completely stopped but now this week his runny nose is really bad again, it is yellow (like before when he was supposedly not sick), and he is sneezing and coughing.

How is it that he can be exhibiting all these symptoms and supposedly not be sick? I don't want to keep getting sick from him as I have way too much, especially since my husband and I are trying to get pregnant. So I don't want to be pregnant and be sick at the same time or anything....or sick at all for that matter.

My son has the same symptoms at least 3 weeks out of the month. He is 12 months old. They have diagnosed him with allergies and possibly asthma but he is to young to do an asthma test on. If the little boy isn't running a fever or anything then it probably is just allergies. I woudn't be overly concerned, I have three children of my own and with the last two pregnancies one of my kids was always catching one bug or another and all of my pregnancies went fine. I hope this eases your mind a little!

Sometimes my sons is absolutely green!! I have taken him to the doctor insisting that he must have an infection. He told me that sometimes with sever allergies they can have green drainage and sometimes even run a low grade temp. To ease my mind though he ordered antibiotics which helped for maybe a week and then he was off and pouring again! We now try to help control cough (albuterol syrup) and he said not to worry about the runny nose. Did she take him to the dr. at all or she assuming that it is allergies? as long as he has seen the dr. I would be pretty confident that it is not contagious.

He saw the Dr a few weeks ago at his 15 month checkup. That is when the Dr said he is fine. But then jut a few days after that I got sick myself. It came on all of a sudden and was pretty bad. I am still convinced I got sick from him. And if so, that will be the 4th I have gotten sick from him!

So yes, he went to the Dr a few weeks ago. And last week he was a lot better but this week it seems to have come back with a vengence. When he sneezes his nose explodes everywhere. (It is so gross!) And he coughs all throughout his nap and everything. He hasn't really been outside except to go to and from the car to come to my house. So it doesn't seem like it would be allergies. But who knows? His mom doesn't want to take him back in again though because she says unless he is really sick then they won't really do anything.

I have purchased some zinc lozenges to help me not get sick. And of course I have a prenatal vitamin I take since I am trying to get pregnant.

Thanks for your help!! I appreciate it!
