My five year old son went to the doctor yesterday for his five year old check up. When they did the hearing screening the first time the screener called abnormal. She kept hitting the button to make the peep and he couldn't hear it, she checked the machine and it was working fine, but he still couldn't hear it. She let him rest for five minutes and then tried it again this time he did ok on his right ear the results ended up being 10/20/10 and i have no idea what that means or if i should be worried because the first time around he didn't hear anything. Anyway if anyone has any advise or suggestions i'd really appreciate it.

so should i take him to someone who can actually do true testing? The tests were done in a sound proof room. There are times that he seemingly doesn't hear you, although honestly up until yesterday I as well as everyone else that is around him is just going on the idea that he is ignoring us because he doesn't feel like listening which I know isn't good but he has never had problems with ear infections or anything like that, he does get alot of wax in his ears but he had just been checked by his doctor right before the screening was done.

Maybe your kid is like me-gets confused when the sounds are playing cos right after a beep plays, it goes on and on in your head. I've missed some beats because the first one was playing over and over in my head like tinnitus. I told my audiologist this and she said it's common. Every single time I go to get tested, this happens.
