First, let me start by introducing myself. My name is Alan and I have been having oral herpie breakouts since I was very young. At one point I would get the once every couple of months... then as I got older it panned out a little and I could count on getting at least 3 a year and it was that way for at least 5-10 years. Anytime there was some sort of trauma to my lips... sun, dryness, to cold... etc. I would get an outbreak.
But I think I may have found something that works. And it will cost you about $20 - $25.
First I noticed I would get them if my lips got to dry so I bought some Carmex (Ive tried many other things but Carmex works the best, IMO)... I use this stuff religiously, pretty much every day. Every night before I got to bed I use it. I keep on in my car, near my bed, at the computer... almost everywhere there is a little bottle. I just apply whenever I want or need to. I just make sure that I have some on hand.
The next step is to get some Abreva and in the moments you feel that small tinge (everyone who has had a coldsore knows what that beginning tinge signals that your about to have a breakout)... just lightly dab some Abreva on your lips... spread it out, your lips go numb for a few seconds and the tingling will stop. I have done this twice and both times have successfuly stopped the cold sore in its tracks.
So far, as of this writing I have not had a breakout for OVER A YEAR. Which, for me is amazing. This method works for me, I hope it works for you.
