Hi! I have Epstein Barr virous, which is giving me a lot of fatigue! I saw the listings about Provigil! Can I get that online anywhere? Or do I have to go to a Doctor? The Dr. I was seeing thinks I am tired because I have a two year old and doesnt really help with any meds or ideas. I don't know any other Doctors to go to! I would like to just order some online if I could! Is there a good website that anyone knows? Thanks Laurie

Provigil is apparently for narcolepsy. There are no meds for Epstein-Barr, it just has to run it's course. Have you had your thyroid checked? That can also wipe you out, and most doctors don't check for it. I went undiagnosed for a long time. I had to develop a goiter before anyone would even listen. Finally found a GP who agreed that there was something else going on besides hypothyroid, and I tested positive for Epstein-Barr as well. Not fun. I have to crash for an hour or two every afternoon. If I had little ones, I'd be in real trouble.

Thanks for your reply! I have been checked for numerous things. One Dr. said I have hyperthyroid and one said no. My General Dr. did prescribe Provigil over the phone! He didnt even know what it was., but it seems to really help fatigue!! I also have terrible hot flashes! (I am 31) And have fibromyalgia. Has anyone heard of hotflashes tied to any of this? What can I do for them? My cycle is perfectly normal! (sorry guys) Thanks! Laurie

One of the symptoms of CFIDS is hot flashes and/or night sweats. Black Cohosh (an herb) is often recommended. It works for me.

hi there. i saw your post on provigil and it lured me in. i started taking it a few weeks ago. i have mercury poisoning and POTS(which includes chronic fatigue). i noticed improved brain function and energy, although i still fall asleep in the middle of the day. i began having breathing problems which isn't a known side-effect of the drug, have you noticed anything like that? for me, it could be mercury in my lungs, but i never had the problem til provigil. it's asthma-like. i just can't get enough air. sometimes accompanies a cough, burning in chest, and wheezing. just curious , but would like to know your side-effects if any. one more thing to add, for those of you that are having trouble getting a diagnosis, or have a diagnosis the doc. says you have to live with the rest of your life, make sure they do a heavy metal test on you. if i didn't find out about the mercury, i would have had a lifetime with pots. i saw the question about fibromyalgia also, and it can also be one of those diseases that gets misdiagnosed when it could be heavy metal poisoning.(copper, lead, arsenic, mercury....)

Hi! I was taking the Provigil and am since off it. I did a lot of reasearch on the epstein barr and the fibromyalgia and think I really have the candida yeast overload! I researched this and have all the symptoms! I purchased a supplement called threelac and in a few days my fatigue is going away and I am feeling the fog lift and the anxiety. Of course it isnt going to all go away (fibro) but I am feeling better, like it isnt in my head! I had never heard of yeast (Candida). I hope this helps others! Laurie

hi laurie! glad to hear you are feeling better and have some answers!! although i wanted to make you aware that candida is also considered a symptom of mercury poisoning. it seems strange that you've mentioned fibromyalgia and candida and they both can be symptoms of mercury. the fillings in your teeth could be poisoning you. although if you are feeling better and staying better then don't give it a second thought. if by any chance you get sick again or develop something else, you may want to ask about heavy metal toxicity. i don't want you to live with problems if there is a cure out there. good luck

if you have other questions feel free to ask. i know that most doc's probably don't even think about it either. my family doc. is a great doc. but he said he's pretty skeptical about my diagnosis from an out of town doc. my friend was sick for 5 years, in a wheelchair. now he is travelling and studying in europe and is at 100%health now. that's how i got to this doc. he loves the difficult to diagnose patient, and i fit that category too. i searched on the internet alot, and i found many things that i matched, but when it came down to it, i was finding the names of my "symptoms", and this doc. is all about finding the cause. i am 28 and its pretty surprizing that my health took the turn that it did. its comforting to know that its not going to be life long, because the source of all these symptoms can be fixed :)

You want provigil? You can have mine. I've got a ton of the stuff (well, 3 mo. supply at 400mg/day). It worked for several months & then stopped working. Ironically, it actually makes me groggy now. Very strange.

I am 30 years old and seem to suffer from cfs. I have not been diagnosed by any doctor. I just have tons of symptoms that no one can seem to figure out. I ordered threelac in hopes that it will help. Has anyone tried this? Has it helped?
