2 liters is good enough to maintain your health. However, you should give attention also to the water quality. Some experts said that chlorine could make health problem.

I only drink bottled water. I have a Hinkley & Schmidt water cooler at home. I also buy water while I am at work and its mostly Evian, Dasani, and pretty much any type of bottled water.

You are smart, I am agree that bottled mineral water is safer than tap water.

I am going to go on the opposite side of what you said. Drinking that much water is not a good thing. The original article which talked about drinking "8 glasses of water a day" was actually a misinterpretation of another physiology study which had come out before that. Assuming one is healthy, the kidneys are VERY efficient organs. They get rid of what you don't need, and keep what you do. Drinking that much water in a day can actually cause something called "medullary washout". A lot of people in N. America have it because we are constantly drinking water without taking in salt at the same time. The medulla of the kidney is very salty which helps to reabsorb water so it doesn't leave the body as urine. If you drink too much water, this salt gets washed out and your kidney doesn't have the same ability to reabsorb water. So you end up losing lots of water in your pee. So ironically, while one's intent is to drink that much water to stay hydrated, you are paradoxically dehydrating yourself!

This is all assuming that one does not have any health conditions. There are certain health conditions where you should drink lots of water.

Yes, I agree with the previous poster. The body usually knows when it's thristy so you should drink when thirsty not just because to get those 8 glasses of water a day.
