Two weeks ago I noticed probably 10ish red bumps on my legs. They are still there and haven't changed size, color...anything. I don't have insurance for another week or two and hoping to avoid the doctor if I can. Little worried though because one has a reddish circle around it. Has anyone ever have something like this just pop up for no apparent reason. Who only knows with this fibro...

Any opinions??

Thanks,
Annie :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:

Hey Annie,

Not sure about the bumps. Are you near woods? I wouldn't think you'd have THAT many tick bites tho. You know Annie, a red ring could indicate "ring worm", which is not a worm at all really, it's merely a "fungal infection" that develops in the form of a ring and you simply use Lamisal to get rid of it. You can get "ring worm" from animals, or most likely from having your hands in the dirt, like gardening.

But you usually don't get so many of those, maybe just one or two. Have you been outside, maybe rubbed up against a plant that is poisonous? What the heck were those plants that would break you out in bumps? Not poison Ivy, I can't remember what their called. AH! NETTLES! Did you get into some Nettles? I know they don't grow everywhere.

Only thing I can figure, is that you maybe were outside, maybe this past weekend? And you picked up some little bites or some reaction from a plant.

Do they itch? Are they oozing? I would just get some OTC cortisone cream and try and see if it helps. Coritsol, or Gold Bond Powder has an anti itch powder. There are other cortisone creams, just look in your drug store. Or ask your pharmacist. If they are still there when you're insurance kicks in, have a doc take a look.

You know, Annie, some hospitals offer a "nurse line" where you can call and get simple medical information or advice from a nurse. I've even called the ER at a smaller hospital before and gotten advice from the desk nurse when I was still recovering from E-Coli and naseated.

Good luck honey, and let us know how everything works out with the "bumps". Hopefully they're nothing to worry about. Get you some cream. And make sure they stay clean.

Hugs,
tk

Can you be more specific? Do they look like flea bites in size? Do they itch? I've had a few appear on my legs in recent months a couple of times. They look like flea bites but they don't itch. They disappear. I wouldn't waste my money on going to a doctor. Search the web for answers. Type: "Small red spots on legs" into a web search engine (I'm not allowed to mention names like "Xoogle").

Are they tender to the touch? If so they could be erythema nodosum and I've had them too and it took me a long time to find out what they were. I saw two doctors who didn't tell me what they were. They are usually about the size of a dime, nickel, or quarter. They are reddened and sometimes more red around the outer rim and raised like a small lump. They can be extremely tender to the touch. They will last for a week or two maybe a little longer and then they will slowly fade and turn into something that looks like a bruise. If you have erythema nodosum look it up and it will give you a lot of information but don't panic. They can occur with many inflammatory conditions such as Crohns disease, UC, etc... but they can also occur in any healthy normal pregnancy or with oral contraceptive use. Let us know how you're doing. I've had them twice and they're no fun but I know I was really worried I might have a blood clot or something and until you know what it is, you worry about what it could be. Best of luck to you, we'll be looking forward to hearing from you!

Hiya Annie,

Could it be a heat rash? If so, it will go in time, don't worry too much. If it starts to get infected or painful, then think about treatment by the medics.

Have you started to take any OTC medicines, check on the data sheets that come with them if you have. Could be that they are giving you an adverse reaction.

Take care.

Hey TK, Golden Wings, Shawnee, CyberGoddess!

Thank you so much for responding....you are true Angels!!!

TK, I am familiar with what ringworm looks like as my 23 year old got it from her cat last year. Bug bites? Do not think so because when they first popped up two weeks ago I hadn't been outside other than going to the car. No woods, no flower planting, no being around animals...just sstumped here.

The largest is about the size of blob fire :blob_fire size. Dark in the center and lighter as it goes out. (pink) Little tenter to the touch with the exception of one and it hurts really bad if I press it. But I must confess, the other night I squeezed it because it looked like it was forming a white head....I know a definate no, no. The pink turned red and the area turned to the size of a quarter with lighter circle that is not defined but gradually goes out. I haven't even gone out side in shorts....put on too much weight over the past three mos. 15 pounds.... Wish I knew of a miracle diet. I know its the Cymbalta. I've gained 25 pounds since starting it. The antidepressants do help me because with this fibro I get bouts of terrible anxiety. But do believe I am going to come off the Cymbalta and try something else. It's lost it's effectiveness and starting to do more negative.

Thanks everyone...if you know of anything this sounds like, the bumps....let me know. You are such sweethearts to think of me. Adore you all.

Lot's and lots of tender, warm hugs, ANNIE :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:

Hi Annie,
Glad you're doing okay and it's nice to hear from you. I think because of the tenderness and the size you describe as well as the color change it may be close to the erethema nodosum I've had a couple of times. When I went to two doctors they didn't even know what to tell me. I had to find out what they were on my own and I've since mentioned them to other doctors who know what they are. They said they are harmless but bothersome however they can occur because of inflammation. I guess if they do a biopsy it's just fatty tissue that gets inflamed in a specific small area on the leg (usually below the knees but sometimes above). Are they starting to change or improve at all? Hope you're doing okay! Good luck with your new med!
Love,
Shawnee
