Does anyone else suffer from being hungry all the time and feeling week from lack of food?
I find pretty much the only thing that helps is eating protein rich, low fat meals but im still underweight and its very depressing as there is nothing i can do. Protein shakes disagree with me as does sugar and milk.
Does anyone else suffer from this as it really gets me down as people are always telling me to get down the gym and put on weight or people just think i dont eat!
Any feedback welcome
thanks

Cookci,
See, I have the opposite problem. Yes, I am hungrey all the time, but I am getting heavier and heavier. I gained 38 lbs. in 4 months. I don't even know who I am when I look in the mirror. And it's not from eating un-healthy foods. I eat a well balanced diet, it's just that I am in constant hunger.
Hugs,
Wendy

do you need to eat frequently to give you your energy wendy?
If not then you don't need to eat so much.
If so, have you tried L-Carnitine?

I was diagnosed with CFS about a month ago. I am only 16 years old, and weigh 98 pounds. I use to be about 110 but i got a reall ybad case of mono in feburary. And i believe that is how i got CFS. Recently I have had no appetite, But for awhile I had this thing where if i didnt eat for an amount of time, I would eat, And then I would end up throwing it up. I dont have that as much anymore. But after i eat big meals, i get full. But my stomach still has that hungry empty feeling in it. And then I end up gettin ghungry again soon after. I don't know if this is similar to your problem, but i just thought id share it incase! good luck

yeah if i eat a large meal i feel really full and bloated yet after a certain period (like a couple of hours after) i start feeling week and hungry - even though im full.
This is rather frustrating as i can't eat as im full. I feel much better if i stick to smaller frequent smaller with the main property of the meal being protein.

weak from lack of eating sounds like hypoglacimia (sp?) and i have that if i dont eat i get really weak and shaky and feel faint plus grouchy. its from low blood sugar and it helps to eat protein like u said or also drink juice cuz it works faster to help the weakness go away.
hungry all the time tho- are u on any form of medication cuz that can be a side effect of some meds.

its does sound like that yes.
im only on natural supplements.
Echinacea, artichoke, probiotics, vit C.
juice makes me feel ill, as does sugar (instantly makes me feel ill) which i dont consume.
I used to feel like i needed sugar when i felt healthy as i used to feel a bit rough until i had a sugary drink ,then felt fine.
I get instant stomach cramps and nausea if i have sugar now though http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

My first thought was also hypoglycemia. The thing that has worked best for me is also protein and green vegetables. What would happen in my case, if I ate something starchy or sweet my body would produce huge amounts of insulin to take care of them. This was much more than I really needed as though the whole meal were carbohydrates, so I would still be hungry when I finished. Now when I eat, the protein and green veggies come first. A lot of vegetables have higher sugar content than others, such as tomato, carrots. Things such as lima beans, peas or other beans have too much starch.
At least now I am not hungry all the time now and most of the brain fog has lifted. At first I couldn't eat fruits at all, but now I can if I'm careful. Celery sticks were my best friends. I would munch on them every hour or two to keep me going. Carrots made me feel worse for several weeks.
There was a period in my life when I was under considerable stress and depression in which I had to force myself to eat. I really believe my sugars had most likely dropped even more than usual. Unfortunately I gained the weight back when things got better

I also have been hungry alot lately. Just 2-3 months ago, I lost 14 lbs for no apparent reason. Now, I am hungry all the time, and even though I have not weighed myself, I think I've gained it back.
I don't know what is going on with my health. It seems to change every day or at least every week! Just when I think I have it figured out, it changes. Just 2 weeks ago I had every sympton of CFS, then I decided to try taking B-100 complex vitamin, and the achiness & severe fatigue are better, so who knows whether that is the problem or not!!!???

I too have started being hungry all the time. It has just seemed to happen since I have had a sinus infection and bronchitis. I also feel like I am full and hungry at the same time sometimes. When I get really hungry if I don't eat I get really sick to my stomach and weak. I am gaining weight. Used to when I ate out for lunch I was fine til dinner. Now I even get hungry inbetween. I don't know what is going on.

Cookci,
I assume you have a problem with chronic fatigue - otherwise you wouldn't have posted this here. I don't know much about that but in any case you should discribe your symtoms to a doctor. Things to look for are hyperthyroid, diabetes, parasites, and maybe more. It doesn't sound like you have any problem like that but you should check with a doctor anyway.
I also have a problem getting hungry all the time - sometimes even to the point of embarrassment. I have been check by three different doctors over the years and none of them have found a real cause. I have just learned to accept it as the way I am. If the doctors find nothing wrong, maybe you should too.
I don't have a problem with fatigue, but sometimes if I am very hungry I will get shakey. I would try to eat good healthy food, but avoid carbohydrates as much as possible.
Some other things that would make it easier to understand your situation:
1. are you male or female? (sorry - can't always tell here)
2. how long have you been like this?
3. how old are you?
4. what is your height/weight
5. how much do you eat in a day? (do you really eat a lot, or is it just spred out over the day?)
You wanted to know if someone else suffers from being hungry all the time. Well, I do - your not alone.
-Robert
