I seem to have most of the other symptoms, but no one has mentioned restless legs. I often have them every night, but am wondering if it is related to CFS.

Not really sure if restless legs are related. I can't recall ever reading any connection between the two in everything I've read.

I have Epstein-Barr causing CFS and I have restless legs. Drives me crazy some nights.

bjo,
My Mother has RLS, and I also have it.However my Mother has it much worse ,than I do. She has had both knees replaced do to arthritis. So I really feel bad for her that she has to suffer with the RLS on top of everything else.It is sure no fun.My Mother takes Mirapex for the RLS.It helps it,but makes her very tired during the day.She fights sleeping during the day so she will sleep at night.Even though she doesn't give in & sleep during the day.She still has problem with sleeping at night a lot of nights. My 2 Parents live with me.So I took my mother to the Drs.& explained to the Dr. about her problems. So the Dr.has changed her medication around.Instead of taking Mirapex 3 times a day.She changed it to taking 1 in the morning, and 2 at noon. So far the last few nights she has sleep well. I hope it continues for her sake. They have a board on RLS on this sight. You may find somemore information on there.
Take Care!! sjg

My CFS was diagnosed about three years ago by my GP, with a possible Epstein-Barr cause - off the chart tests.

CFS, other than some periodic flare-ups, hasn't severely hindered the quality of my life - Thank God. As long as I get plenty of excercise (weight lifting primarily), restrict my sugar intake, and keep my stress down, things are pretty manageable.

Something new has transpired over the last couple of months though - I finally had a sleep study done in November that was supposed to diagnose sleep apnea (that I was certain that I DIDN'T have).

Turns out I was right - no sleep apnea. But I did exhibit severe restless leg syndrome, accompanied by numerous "spontaneous arousals" (the term used to describe the brain almost waking up without cause). Who knows how long I've had this RLS, but my wife tells me that she's known I move my legs around a lot while sleeping for years.

Anyway, my GP prescribed a low dose of Diazepam (Valium) that I take before I go to bed.

From the first night, I noticed an improved alertness and restful feeling upon wakening (although I still wake up very early even when I don't need to).

I'm about to repeat the sleep test on the Diazepam to see what impact it's having on my RLS and those sponteneous arousals.

I'd like to hear of others with similar experiences.

Thanks

A goodly number of RLS is due to milk allergy, so elimimate all milk products 100% and take about 1500 Mg. of elemental calcium tablets daily between meals and in about two months the legs will be better
