Hello,
I've not been formally dx'd with OCD, but I do have chronic anorexia.
I am terribly troubled by vague patterns, or rhythms, or pieces of sound that repeat and repeat all day long. They scare me, and I try to make them stop, then only get more frightened.
Sometimes I can hardly think or focus because of these.
I don't wash, check, count, hoard or anything else (except my food is weird).
Does anyone else have these, and how can I cope with them? Does Prozac help these - I am on 40 mg- should I increase dosage.
Thanks very much. These things torture me.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but I get like 10 second snippets of a song repeating in my head all day. It's like a CD that just keeps skipping. I don't know if I can call it OCD though, because people get songs "stuck in their head" all the time right? I'm so uptight with my food too. I will freak out if certain foods make their way into my body.

I suffer from the same type of OCD. Patterns of things....holes....sounds, layers, etc...all these things bother me...It's mostly visual, but sometimes sounds. They make my skin crawl. I'm not bothered by the usual things consistent with OCD either...I take Lexapro 10 mg...I have been taking it for about a year. It has helped by taking the edge off things. I can deal with my problem a lot better with Lexapro. I'll probably stay on it forever. Hope you can get on some kind of medication too. If you want to discuss the types of things that bother us, we can do that. Good luck...Jorja

OMG! I have this, too! I wouldn't be surprised if you do have OCD because you have anorexia nervosa. Since anorexia is an OCD-spectrum disorder that makes a person have fearful thoughts about food and weight, the symptoms you described most likely are originated from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I have diagnosed OCD, and I have these symptoms. All day long, I will get random songs stuck in my head and I have to tap out the rhythms or hum the words over and over. I never understood what people meant by saying that OCD could be like having a record playing over and over in your head until a few months ago when this all started. Now, whenever I hear a song, I will inevitably count and tap rhythms to it. Tres annoying! ;)
