Hi,
I have never had allergy problems until 2 months ago when I had an anaphylatic reaction to Pepto Bismol. A few weeks ago I had another to Nyquil (dr. warned against taking OTC meds).
I had allergy testing (two skin tests), and the second one where they put the allergin under your skin showed a pretty strong reaction to cats, but I have 5 and don't have any symptoms when I am around them. How can this be?
Anyhow, is anyone else here dealing with this? I would like to hear from others dealing with this. Right now I am not allowed ANY new meds except what I already take for fibromyalgia. Now I'm afraid to even use a new brand of toothpaste.
Also, do these reactions mess up your immune system? I have had shingles, which I could not take any meds for, and ditto for a stomach virus, in the past two weeks, although the shingles were coming on when I had the second reaction. I thought only older people got shingles (i'm 37). Guess I was wrong on that one :)
Thanks!
Jeanne
