I have a really bad sore closed throat that is very painful. Any suggestions? I have been taking alot of ibuprofen for the pain.
The throat feels almost swollen shut and is very dry.
The suggestion I can think of is Chloroseptic spray (or the generic kind). That takes down swelling in the throat and will somewhat "numb" the soreness for awhile. But if it really feels like its closing get into a doctor.
Take care and hope you feel better soon!

A simple approach is to drink hot liquids, hot
soups, gargle with salt water a couple of times per day. Staying out of the cold wind,
bundle up your throat area, avoid excessive
talking on the telephone,karoke singing.Also
if you're a smoker smoke less and listen to
Bill Clinton's answer, I didn't inhale. Try
it for a few days or perhaps a week your
symptoms should clear up.

Hi Lori,
Sorry to hear that your throat is so painful.
try gargling with some analgesia...Soluble paracetamol...2 four times a day and this should take the edge of it....dont take more than 8 in one day and have a space of four hours between each paracetamol gargle....
Also the spray or losenges should help..
Good luck ....
really though if its that bad see your GP ...You may need antibiotics..
With love and Regards Janie..xx
Also when purchasing paracetamol please seek the advice of the pharmasist
